Catch wisdom this big...!!!

I came across this wonderful book while searching for an Operations research book written by Dr. Ignizio. It struck me as rather curious as why such an eminence in his field (apollo project to name one)would wonder into the non-academic world with bits of wisdom seen through the fisherman?s eye. It turned out to be a surprise as any as I have seen before, not only advice on how to manage your middle age crisis, but also how to manage those unconnected works events that have presented as intractable all yield under the wisdom Dr. Ignizio radiates. What makes it more sublime its its 3 pages chapters so you can grab a bite in your hectic schedule.

Witty, practical and charming is FISHY BIZ!

I truly enjoyed Fishy Business! Authors James and Bill Ignazio have combined the best advice for fisherman with the best advice for managers to create a practical and totally entertaining paperback of wisdom. I especially enjoyed the narrative tone of the book, through which we meet Frank, a businessman who meets the mysterious Old Angler, the living folklore hero of the local fishing community. Through Old Angler, and other colorful characters, Frank reaches another level of business savvy, while easing the tension from his taut bones. Plenty of parallel advice here, too, like: A good fisherman knows when to change rods, and a good manager knows when to change course. There1s even a surprise ending! I highly recommend this book. A relaxing, entertaining and downright interesting read! --Karen Plunkett-Powell, author The Nancy Drew Scrapbook..Home Design From the Inside-Out, etc

Fishy Business is great.

Light hearted yet informative, Fishy Business offers a fresh approach to business analogies. I wish more of my colleagues would read this book. It is nice that somebody else realizes that the cut throat approach is not always the best, and there is still room for a laid back, cooperative approach in the business world. Buy this book!!!

A refreshing approach to solving business problems.

After reading books giving management advice from chainsaw CEO's, football coaches, Atilla the Hun, and a Mafia don, I found that Fishy Business presented a refreshing and welcome alternative approach. Instead of the same old hash about reinventing the organization, downsizing the workforce, or setting up empowered teams, they go right to the heart of what is really the biggest problem in business --- the way managers think. They're correct when they say that managers tend to look at every problem in a binomial framework ie. either a war or game - for someone to win - someone has to lose - a condition that most will agree is certainly true of the majority of managers. But they go further, introducing a way to broaden one's perspective that's actually fun. Scott Adams, and his Dilbert Chronicles, has pointed out the nonsensical things that go in the office. Fishy Business offers a rational means to correct these prevailing attitudes within the context of fishing parables. A very entertaining book.

Fishy Business is great!

Finally, a business book that makes sense. That's just what I thought after reading "Fishy Business." Instead of preparing for war, the authors tell people in business to relax and enjoy life. Go fishing. I especially liked this get back to basics theme. I think college business courses would be a lot more interesting if professors used books like this one. If you are in business, you really have to get this one. It's brilliant.
