First Grave on the Right

Love this book, I love the all the characters but the main character is - whitty, funny badass. Thrown in a lot of supernatural crime, and mystery! Couldn’t put it down!

Stumbled across this book at the library while looking to learn Italian...must have been in the wrong spot. Now I can not stop reading about Charlie and Cookie.

The PI is an all around funny, brave, and troubled characters that I have read in a long time.

I LOVE this series, and if you are looking for a fast paced, enjoyable, and easy read, this is it. It’s very obvious the author was inspired by the show Supernatural- she basically took one of the “monster” types and spun them into her own main character; however that does not make this tale unoriginal or any less bright. I have not shot through a series so fast since Harry Potter. This is my new favorite repeat read- I love the characters, I love the humor; I don’t think I’ve ever laughed out loud so much at a book in my entire life. The key to enjoying this- and the reason it gets 4/5 stars- is to remember that you are reading these for fun. There are some minor inconsistencies throughout the series (mostly I think when the author was on a roll, got distracted, and had to stop and then just started up again without checking what she wrote so far.) None of them are huge enough to impact the overall story arc, however, and if you can dismiss the confusion and sort out what was meant instead of what was written a handful of times, you’ll be fine. Read this series for the story and the *very hilariously flawed* leading lady. In all honesty, I think the technical mistakes (since it’s in the main character’s POV) just contribute to the believability of human error in the character. Book is suitable for people with an all-encompassing sense of humor. You don’t have to be an avid reader or intellectual to enjoy this- it’s almost like watching TV- turn your brain off and enjoy the ride. I literally couldn’t put this series down sometimes; believe me, my work and sleep have suffered for the love of Charlotte. 1 hour of sleep before overtime? Worth it! Left your copy at home and had to annoy your boyfriend into taking pictures of a couple chapters so you could read on your phone? WORTH. IT. Thank you, Ms. Jones. Worth it. -do not read these books if you live in Virginia-

I know, I know.. it sounds a little far fetched.. I mean the Grim Reaper meets the Son of Satan?! I was iffy to pick this one up, but so happy I did. Its my new favorite series! PS- if you like Sookie Stackhouse, you'll LOVE Charley Davidson!

I loved Darynda's humor and everything about this book. I have read the series a total of 5 times. Its an amazing book that you can just pick up and enjoy.

I judged this book by the cover and I was hooked! The premise is pretty original, and main character, Charlie is hilarious and reckless. This book is riveting from beginning to end and luckily there are ten more to read after this one! Enjoy!
