Good Advice

I thought this book was helpful, but is not in depth enough to really help with my situation. It is well written and deals with issues other than the one I am looking at personally, but I am sure others will find it helpful.

Hands-on advice on how to deal with being fired

If you're in danger of losing your job, Richard C. Busse provides advice about how to turn things around and improve your relationships at work. If you do lose your job, he explains how to cope with termination, negotiate the best settlement and understand your rights. He answers many questions about U.S. employment laws and how they differ from state to state. We recommend this book to anyone who fears he or she may be "fired, laid-off or forced out" of a job, now or in the future. Managers, supervisors and human resource professionals will also find useful tips about legal issues and conducting performance evaluations properly, so they can avoid the risk of wrongful termination lawsuits.

Fired, Laid Off or Forced Out:

Everyone should have read this, just in case you run into one of those weight thowing around bosses. I hadn't read it when my inccident happened but i called in my Union President, after paying for 4 years worth of dues they better do something. It said to do this in the book, so i was right on it. But, there is alot of other stuff in it, that is just good to know

Anyone working should read this book

Regardless of your current employment status, one must read this book. It is excellent guide on what to do to protect one's best interests when it comes to salary negotiation for the new job, or severance negotiation when a job is lost. If you are in the rush and want to just skim the book read the tips at the end of the each chapter and that will have to determine if you need to read all of it or some of it. My advice however would be read the book cover to cover because you could only wish to have Richard Busse is your employment lawyer. If you are 40 or older you definitely want to read this book and better yet, keep it in your library for a refresher reads in the future.
