Another sweet read...

...A sweet read... What makes for a sweet read? Well, I'd say a romance book that isn't over-filled with steamy, sensuous sex scenes. Thus, Barbara Gale's "Finding His Way Home" has fallen into this category for this particular reader, because steamy and sensuous sex scenes are lacking. The author has a gift for plotting warm and well-written prose. The plot centers around Valetta Keane Faraday, sister to Alexis Keane, both orphaned heirs to the Keane Empire, which includes the world's largest newspaper, the L.A. Connection. Lincoln Cameron is the number one man running the L.A. Connection for Alexis Keane, a woman who has devoted her entire life to the Keane Empire, but has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. After ten years of separation from her estranged younger sister, Alexis wants Val to return to California to run the Keane Empire. She's dangling a newspaper partnership in Lincoln's face if he'll bring Val back. Early in Val's marriage to Dr. Jack Faraday, he is killed in an automobile accident while she's still pregnant with their only child, a daughter. Val remains in New York to raise her child and start a small-town newspaper of her own. She's perfectly content and has no plans for returning to California...until Lincoln shows up on his mission to change her mind. The book's title is enough to make a reader want to find out which way Val goes, or maybe which way Lincoln goes. Either way, Gale's book is a sweet read and worth the effort.

Another absorbing novel from Barbara Gale!

"Finding His Way Home" was an engrossing read from beginning to end - it's one of those novels that snares your interest from the very first page. The pacing with which author Barbara Gale allowed the story unfold was expertly done, and the romance between her two characters is very well developed - it's about two people who are not only passionately drawn to each other, but who also needed each other emotionally as well. A heroine with a sad past (Val), a notorious hero (Lincoln), and the passionate and sensual romance that develops between them. It also has some very funny moments and small town you wish you could move to. If you're looking for a contemporary romance novel that is character-driven and that has everything necessary for a good, engaging read, you can't go wrong with "Finding His Way Home." Eagerly looking forward to her next one!
