This is a book for people who want to be preached to, not enriched.

Is marketed as a book about building meaningful relationships, but it is deeply rooted in Christian faith. While not explicitly framed as a religious book, it centers around biblical teachings, making it clear that the foundation of any community, according to Allen, must be religious. Additionally, the book is highly autobiographical and lacks references to scientific studies or sociological insights, relying instead on personal anecdotes and scripture.

Clear Instruction

I love self-help books with clear action items at the end of each section, and Jennie has nailed it. She’s also honest about struggles in her own friendships, which was really helpful for me. The book is heavy on practical advice and personal accounts and light on theology, which means it will probably satisfy most Christian denominations because all talk of Jesus is very surface-level.
