Great Buy on a used Academic Book

This was a great buy for a used academic book with was in excellent condition.

Not hard to understand

I don't think anyone really likes their accounting books, but this one isn't too bad. I bought it used as a supplement to the book my class was using (Kimmel, Weygandt and Kieso), when I got completely confused by that one. Having two different explanations of the same subject helped. However, don't be surprised to see the exact same cheesy diagrams. The index is good and I use this book for reference. Unlike Kimmel, this book also covers "interpreting financial statements," payroll accounting (in brief), and special journals (cash receipts/cash payments) and subsidiary ledgers. My school actually uses the special journal appendix as a photocopied handout for another class. There is also a cheap DVD (available from the publisher for less than $1) which goes along with this book that absolutely saved my life.

Good buy

Much cheaper than what you can see in the bookstore although shipping may take you a while longer than that. Quality of the book is good.

Great book!

I bought this book 2 months ago for less than $3. For me, I feel, it provides knowledge for $3000. This book is very easy to follow, with examples after every bullet point. It is very intuitive and well organized. I can say that for these years of improvement the authors achieved nearly a masterpiece of teaching. The matter of accounting is as difficult as a subject of law, but with this textbook the authors provide the students with excellent reading for introductory accounting classes. One suggestion: always do at least 1 full part of the problems after every chapter before you go to the next. For example do the brief exercises or problems in full before going to the next. After you read the next chapter and do the problems, always solve at least one problem from ALL PREVIOUS chapters before continuing, until you reach the end. In this way you will be satisfied and actually remember what you have learned. Only one drawback: The book does not provide solutions for after-cahapter problems, but they are based on examples in the text (in the chapter) so you can always find the right solution if you have difficulties. I also suggest "Solving Fin. ACC. Using excel for windows", a supplementary book you can purchase also for $3. It could prove to be helpful for you too. Good luck!

Excellent Text Book for Beginners

This is an excellent text book for beginners. During my freshmen year, our professor wisely chose this book as our main text book. The book is concise and explains everything in a clear and understandable manner. I have often wondered whether or not Weygandt, Kieso and Kimmel have hired students with no accounting knowledge to help review the book, because I am certain that even 10 year olds can understand the material. Overall, I highly recommend this book for beginners and for people who just want to know what accounting is all about.
