Fabulous Biography About Susan B. Anthony

In the year 1820, Susan B. Anthony was born into a home with a Quaker Father, and a Baptist Mother. Her Father, being a Quaker, was a free thinker, and thought it only fair that women have a say in what goes on in the world. Hence, Susan was brought up always saying what was on her mind, which often rubbed people - especially non-Quaker men - the wrong way. As years passed, Susan held many different jobs that were sometimes unheard of for a woman - a teacher, a newspaperwoman. However, as time went by, Susan realized that her true passion was activism, and in the end, she worked to give women the right to vote, and to end slavery. This is her story. I had heard of Susan B. Anthony many times in History class when I was about 10-years-old, but since each History book gave such a brief description of her efforts, I never learned much about her. That's why finding Maryann N. Weidt's FIGHTING FOR EQUAL RIGHTS was like finding a treasure for me. The wonderful descriptions about Susan's work in activism brought the story to life, and truly made you realize just how much of an impact Susan had on the world today. This is a marvelous biography for all! Erika Sorocco Book Review Columnist for The Community Bugle Newspaper
