Cool history, "trans" is used incorrectly though and sounds awful when reading

The history of this book is super cool! I loved reading about James and Mary Howe, but the author either hasn't interacted with a trans person or is just plain ignorant. She uses the adjective (yah know, a descriptive word) as a verb and it sounds absolutely horrendous. One example is that she uses "transing gender" instead of transgender or transition (or gender transition if you need to be more specific), which is frustrating because she only used it correctly ONCE in the whole book and then went back to incorrectly using it and it's just so frustrating to basically have to edit every other paragraph. I would understand if this was written in the 90's or early 2000's or 2010's, but it was published in 2020 when you have access to established terms and words that a group of minorities use for themselves. Infuriated that this came from Cambridge!! They should have better editors.
Like I said, the history is cool, just the words used to describe trans people are WRONG.
