"Homer Simpson meets Anthony Robbins. Marsh's honesty and humanity make "Fat, Forty, and Fired" essential reading for anyone whose life has ever hit a roadblock. Hilarious and inspiring." --Bob... This description may be from another edition of this product.
why is this such a wonderful book? because it's normal. it's a regular guy choosing to turn his life around and succeeding. it's honest and charming and thoughtful and moving. i'm not a self-help book kind of person, but this book really inspired me. in it's own, quirky, frank, non-preachy way, it helped me think about my own life and the choices and priorities i've made. wait, maybe i am a self-help kind of person.
Funny, clever , inspiring.

Fat, Forty, Fired is full of hilarious insights into life in transition where everything changes suddenly and unpredictably . It's fiendishly fun, witty and clever ,not to mention absolutely impossible to put down . Most importantly though it's inspiring and poignant in it's observations about family, work and the meaning of life. I loved this book , I laughed, I cried, I laughed.... what more can I say. Highly recommended .

While searching for something good to read I came across FFF in Barnes and Noble. I was hooked from the beginning! In addition to many parallels with my own life, I found Nigel's storytelling and stories very enjoyable. I fit the first two f's, butnot the third, However, getting fired (or losing a job)is something many fear. As a longtime career development specialist I have worked with many men who find themselves in "transition" and are thus forced to rethink and reshape their identity. Nigel's story speaks to this quite well. But what really sealed the deal for me was the last chapter, where he hits the nail on the head. If your looking for something that is inspirational and a pleasure to read, go get FFF.

It's funny, it's inspiring, it's slightly ridiculous - a great read. If you're not inspired to shuck the shackles of societal expectations and other 'S' words after reading this book, you've probably recently inherited a gazillion dollars and no one expects you to work anyway. Seriously, it's written with a sense of wonder and amusement that doesn't flag, and behind an interesting autobiographical storyline, Nigel Marsh pokes at the great truths of life, family and the real reasons we're on the planet to begin with. And no, that does not include aliens, supercomputers run by mice or pudding.
amazing new book

I absolutely loved this book. As a woman married to a workaholic husband, I really connected to Nigel's story about trying to rediscover who he is and navigate life on his own terms. I've already given the book to my husband to read, and have been busy recommending it to all of my friends, male and female, who have lost the balance between work and life!
