Eyes of the World--So True!

This book was recommended to me by a relative. I started reading it and could hardly put it down!! It was exciting from the beginning and so timely given our last presidential election. I am very familiar with the places in Arizona and Mexico where parts of the story took place. His description of this area was so realistic. I loved the characters in this story, especially the president. I felt like I knew her personally. It also shows that everyone, no matter who you are, has flaws. Overcoming these flaws is what life is all about. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read thrillers. I look forward to more books from Rob. I hope his next one comes out soon as I intend to purchase it. Great novel!!!

Timely and Completely Riveting

This is my favorite type of book - smart, face-paced, and completely absorbing. I forgot about everything else while I was reading it. With the election heating up and a woman in the mix, I find myself thinking back to my favorite parts of the book. Could the events in Eyes of the World really happen? You bet.

Magnificent.

Elections are only two weeks away. Carolyn "Lynnie" Connor is high in the polls to become the first female president of the United States. Her husband is often referred to as "Saint Devon"; he is a former Navy chaplain and is always doing missionary work. (He is currently in Africa.) So should anyone find out that her childhood friend, Michael "Mike" Stanbridge is also her lover, her marriage and career would be ruined. Lynnie's home town is preparing a party for her. The theme is "This Is Your Life". Reverend Eve Tessmer has been working hard to make it perfect. There is a guest speaker lined up for each of Lynnie's life, except for the first year when Lynnie was in Arizona. Eve's close friend, Archibald "Archie" Pascoe, agrees to look over the papers from Eve's Arizona file for ideas. That very night, Eve is murdered and everything about Arizona is taken except for what is in Archie's possession. Mike learns that he is the main suspect in Eve's death. More and more evidence begins pointing his way. As a teen, Mike saved Lynnie's life, but failed to rescue his sister's, when their house burned down. So when someone tries to kill Archie, via fire, Mike instinctively knows that had Archie died he would have been blamed for it. Mike and Archie must figure out what is going on while dodging political assassins and the FBI. ***** A perfect read for the election year! With Hillary Clinton in the 2008 race, it makes Rob Palmer's book superlative. Filled with twists, turns, and unexpected surprises, I was kept on the edge of my seat the entire time. I cannot recommend this one high enough. Magnificent! ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

Perfect read for the election year

This book is incredibly suspenseful, as well as moving. In it, the first woman President is running for re-election, and her two biggest secrets are threatening to blow up in her face. One is the fact that Mike Stanbridge, her childhood friend, has become her lover. The other is even more explosive. People around her start to die, and Mike is "put in the frame." It's up to him to save his own life and the President's career (to say nothing of the country's stability), but it's hard to do while pursued by political assassins and the FBI. The plotting is exquisite and the pacing is terrifically fast (I finished it in a day; I just couldn't find a place to put it down.) I think the best things, though, may have been the characters and the love story. Hard to decide!

exciting thriller

The election for the next President of the United States is two weeks away, but appears to be a historical one. Carolyn "Lynnie" Connor is leading comfortably in all the major polls and looks ready to become the first female president. Her spouse former naval chaplain "Saint Devon" is a popular individual as he does missionary work around the world; currently the future First Man is in Africa. The only thing that could derail Lynnie's trip to the White House is a mega scandal. That possibility exists because of her affair with her childhood friend, who saved her life during a fire that killed his sister; her trysts with Michael "Mike" Stanbridge will not be forgiven by the voters as she is cuckolding her paragon of a husband. Reverend Eve Tessmer has set up a "This Is Your Life" for Lynnie in her home town. She has arranged guest speakers to represent each phase in Lynnie's life, except for when she was in Arizona. Eve's friend Archibald "Archie" Pascoe takes some of the Arizona documents home to peruse in an effort to determine a suitable speaker. That same night someone kills Eve and takes her Arizona file except what Archie possesses. The police suspect Mike killed Eve. When someone tries to murder Archie, Mike knows he is the only target of the Feds for this attempted murder and an unknown assassin who he fears is working for a famous person he knows intimately. With the obvious connections to the real election aside, this is an exciting thriller as a lone nobody becomes the focus of an assassin, the media, and law enforcement. Though somewhat over the top readers will enjoy the fast-paced EYES OF THE WORLD as Mike will remind the audience of Cary Grant's character psychiatrist Thorndike in NORTH BY NORTHWEST.
