Extraordinary Plants

My first grader used this book as part of his Science curriculum. There is a wealth of detail packed into the beautifully illustrated pages. This book is not the "dumbed down" fluff apparent in so many children's books today. The author uses proper scientific terminology, explaining the terms in a manner that even young students can understand. I particularly like the well-thought organization of the book, with each subject area contained in a two-page spread. Perhaps the best feature of the book is the abundance of detailed illustrations. Many plant varieties are pictured in gorgeous, vibrant colors. Cross-sections are used to illustrate various plant structures. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to teach botany to a child.
