Book Overview

Robert Graysmith's New York Times bestselling account of the desperate hunt for a serial killer and his own investigation of California's unsolved Zodiac murders. A sexual sadist, the Zodiac killer took pleasure in torture and murder. His first victims were a teenage couple, stalked and shot dead in a lovers' lane. After another slaying, he sent his first mocking note to authorities, promising he would kill more. The official tally of his victims was six. He claimed thirty-seven dead. The real toll may have reached fifty. Robert Graysmith was on staff at the San Francisco Chronicle in 1969 when Zodiac first struck, triggering in the resolute reporter an unrelenting obsession with seeing the hooded killer brought to justice. In this gripping account of Zodiac's eleven-month reign of terror, Graysmith reveals hundreds of facts previously unreleased, including the complete text of the killer's letters. Jaw Dropping

Just when you think this shockingly true story can't get any worse. This book contains all the shocking facts of Jerome Burdo's crimes, along with some twists and turns that I did not see coming. Ann Rule had such amazing writing skills, like you were right there with investigators. This is the 2nd of Ann Rule's books I have read and she may be my all time favorite crime author. P.S. I did find a typo in the 1st sentence...

In my highschool class.......Corvallis, OR

Read the book in 1983........Interesting to say the least......Jerome Henry Brudos, Corvallis, OR Highschool Class of 1958 was in my graduating class. Just checked in my 1958 year book to see if he wrote anything and he did,,,"Jim, to the kid with the wicked elbo who in my jr year told me what to say and what to read in shaws (teacher) class" Signed Jerry Brudos... Seemed like any other high school senior that year; did...

Packed with horror and suspense

I loved this book. Ann Rule writes so that you feel as though you are there. The book begins with a recitation of the events as the police learned them; then after the killer was arrested, his confessions and the evidence gathered during searches provides unbelievable detail. Unless you already know the story of Brunos, you won't believe what happens, even after he's sentenced and in prison. This book is a strong message...

A terrifying story, very well told . . .

Once again, Ann Rule proves why she is one of the best. "Lust Killer" is a concise and insightful look into the life and crimes of serial killer Jerome Brudos. But more than that, it is a chilling look into the often forgotten realm of victimology. Think you're safe when you go to the mall at high noon? Read this book. Think a man who looks like a big dumb teddy bear can't possibly be a threat to you? Read this book. Think...
