Expired Promise: A Last Chance County Novel

Overall, I liked the characters and the plot, the head of a drug cartel is targeting Andi Crawford's family and Jude Brooks, an ATF agent is in town to figure out why. Both of the lead characters are strong characters but I got a bit annoyed at Andi always trying to prove that she was better than everyone else and not listening when her brothers or Jude tried to explain what they really meant. The plot was full of action, suspense, twists and turns with a touch of romance and faith added in. There are some side characters that I hope will have their own books in this series.

Expired Promise by Emilie Haney and Lisa Phillips is the latest release in the Last Chance County Series. Expired Promise opens with an intense special operations assignment that turns deadly. Jude Brooks is leading the mission and assumes responsibility for things that aren’t necessarily in his control. He’s a likable character. Andi Crawford is a new firefighter who’s trying to prove she has what it takes to succeed and, in the process, may have lost sight of what she’s really called to do. Seeing her figure out her future was well done. Jude and Andi have a past and as you might imagine their romance is rekindled. There’s a lot of action and a sweet faith message. This is book three in the series and while you don’t have to read them in order, the story probably makes a little more sense if you do. Characters from the earlier stories do pop up. I received an advance reader copy; however, I have ordered the e-book.
