EXCELLENT-NO FLUFF

I rarely ever write reviews about books I've read. I have hundreds of books all over my house covering topics from witchcraft, energy medicine, goddesses, reiki, etc, etc. This book is one of my all time favorites!! I can not recommend it highly enough. I hate books that are 80% fluff nonsense that just take up pages, and only 20% of useful information. This book is 100% useful. The explanations are so wonderfully written-more of a story than just an interpretation of the cards. The spells are GREAT!! I'm not the SilverRavenWolf type of spell witch- i like simple spells with simple supplies I usually have on hand. Dorothy offers just those type of spells-and very powerful if I may add. This book is great for someone who has been reading the cards for some time or for the beginner. It truly has valuable information on ever single page. I find myself always referring back to this book. You will look at it again and again and again after reading through it the first time. 5 stars all the way!

The most simplified..

Dorothy Morrison truly is concise and presice with her teaching of the tarot!A book for all..from Novices to the more learned. Very easy to understand and apply. I highly recommend this book to all.Way to go Dorothy!

Excellent, a must read!

Tarot can be used by anyone to enrich his or her life, and this is the focal point of Dorothy Morrison's Everyday Tarot Magic. I was impressed with the unique way she acquainted me with all the cards and their meanings. With that background, I felt comfortable moving on to the second part of the book, where she launches into listing numerous spells and chants, all of which incorporated the use of a card or cards. As a beginner, I learned all the basic information I need to know about the Tarot to get me started, and I know that anyone with a tarot deck and a strong desire to turn dreams into reality will benefit from this well-crafted book.

Tarot in Your Everyday Life

Ms. Morrison is well known at events for her tarot readings. I've seen lines backed out of the store waiting to have a reading by her. It's about time she wrote this book. Ms. Morrison presents us with the simple guide to working with tarot cards. This book is written in a clear and easy to use format and uses everyday language. The tarot is a tool, and Ms. Morrison shows us how to use it to the best of each person's ability. The opening is a lovely overview of the history of the tarot. There are so many different opinions, and she gives us a few of the possible origins of the deck. There is also some background on the cards, the decks, how to choose a deck for yourself and preparation of the deck. There are chapters on using the cards that are just chock full of basic, practical guidance and common sense. She gives a very easy to understand overview of the meanings of the cards, the suits, and the Journey of the Major Arcana. While this may sound very complex, Ms. Morrison is well known for her ability to make what could be ugly and overdone into something that is easy to read and understand. She also has a section on using the cards for understanding your own inner self. The second part of the book contains her very much sought after spells. Tarot cards have been used in spell workings for a long time, and Ms. Morrison provides us with some wonderful workings covering addiction to wishes and everything in between. As usual, these are the simple spells that one can use "Everyday", applying a generous dose of common sense and the needed magical push to make it work. There are also correspondences in the back of the book as well as suggested card layouts and a lovely bibliography. My copy of this book is a "pre-release" and did not contain an index. Hopefully there is one when the book is published this month. Every good book that finds its way into "Everyday" use should have a quick reference index. Ms. Morrison gives us yet another useful and practical guide to working with another good tool. For those who are looking to start using a tarot deck or are just contemplating the idea, this book will help you get started on the right foot.

Create magick sublime with tarot and enchanting rhyme!

I don't know how Dorothy Morrison does it. But she has created another fine book full of magick and charm, this time using the tarot as a magickal tool for spellwork. She provides readers with a very brief introduction to tarot cards and their history, a chapter on using the cards for self-discovery (combining tarot with numerology), some brief appendixes on color, herbal, and stone correspondences, 3 card layouts for divination, and a brief bibliography of source materials. The heart of the book is devoted to spellwork (over 140 spells) for a variety of intentions that utilize tarot cards. They are simple workings designed to be used on their own, or, simple enough that you can enhance a more involved ritual working with one of these spells. Morrison also encourages readers, if they feel so inclined, to change, adapt or embellish the individual workings as they see fit. Morrison has a rhyme for just about everything. She even starts the book off with a poem that introduces readers to its history and uses. Her workings are full of affirmative rhyming words to power-up the spell. "Fear, be gone-I take your power, Your well-laid plans have now gone sour" (from a spell against unfounded fears). From there, some of the spells lead you to just light a candle, focus on the card and recite the affirmative chant. Some lead you into a little guided journeying, while others have you perform some action with the card itself. So a word of warning is in order. You will need to use a deck, perhaps an old one you don't use anymore, or one you buy just for the purpose of spellwork. This is because some of the cards will be burned, flushed away, buried, marked up or otherwise used in order to complete the spellworking. Morrison suggests one excellent way around this problem--use photocopies of the cards. If you have one of those copier/scanner/printers for your computer like I do, you can even make color copies!Although designed with simplicity for the beginner, I would highly recommend that those not familiar with spellwork acquaint themselves with the practices and ethics involved before beginning to use this book. It will insure that pitfalls are avoided and that you obtain the best results possible. There is a too brief explanation (for beginners) on the matter of the three-fold law of magick and the importance of focus, concentration and will on the success of the spellwork. But for the majority of tarot aficionados, who want to explore more uses of the tarot in their everyday lives and for magickal practitioners looking for ways in which to use the tarot in their magickal practices, this book is an excellent choice for furthering your explorations.
