Book Overview

It's the edgy gift book for every unmarried woman who's fending off her nudgy mother and overly concerned (over-bearing?) friend, who can't go to a holiday dinner, class reunion, shower or wedding without hearing the usual round of questions. Something like So, why aren't you married yet? Or sometimes, Still not found that special someone? Or any variation thereof. Delightful, irreverent, and witty, "Even God is Single, So Stop Giving Me a Hard Time"...

Short and Sweet

This one is shorter than most of Karen Salmansohn's books, but it certainly is sweet. Marriage is not the be-all and end-all of life in the 21st Century !! Of course, if you do want to change your status, check out her new book for 2003 -- "How To Change Your Entire Life By Doing Absolutely Nothing" -- which I also enjoyed very much. Perceptive humor can be good for you.

Sass Sisters Unite!

I love this book! For every woman who has been to a family reunion or worse, a wedding, and has been asked,"So are YOU seeing anyone?" or "You're an attractive smart girl. Why aren't YOU married?" this book is for you. After years of feeling awkward and sad about my Singlehood, I was fortunately, able to come to my own realization that I am actually pretty happy being single and that it will take someone special to fill the shoes of HUSBAND. How I wish I had found this book years ago, though! It's a sass sister's dream come true! I found myself laughing out loud and nodding my head "Yeah! Right on!" It's a snappy, clever look at the prevailing social pressure to get married. It reminds us Single Girls that while marriage may seem like the key to everlasting happiness, there is a more realistic side to matrimony. I'd like to kick back and drink a Cosmopolitan with the author. She sounds like a cool chick!

Terrific Thoughtful Retorts for the Taunted Unmarried

As Ms. Salmansohn says, this is "the book every single girl needs to defend against nudgy family and friends." But this witty, humorously illustrated book is more than that, it is a wise look at the virtues of carefully choosing a partner rather than racing to the altar with just anyone. As such, this book is of equal value to young unmarried men. The lines and the cartoons are equally funny, and nicely reinforce each other. I can only reproduce some of the former, but they will give you a flavor of the book.". . . I can't fix you up with any cute guys. However, I can fix you up with some feisty comebacks." ". . . hold out for a soulmate, instead of a cell mate."". . . Hitler got married." "And God is even in a single parent household.""Why make one man happy, when you can make a lot of men happy?""Married versus Marred""Altar versus Altered""Marriage versus Mirage""A hit single"But my favorite was " . . . being careful about whom I marry means I've . . . skipped a few divorces." The best part of the book is that it will cause any single person (and parent of said single person) to consider the alternative to being happily unmarried, which could be being unhappily married. That's well worth thinking about. After you have had a good laugh with this book and considered its serious lessons, I suggest that you take at look at Relationship Rescue, which many married couples can use to improve their marriages. By examining that book now and doing the exercises in it, I suspect you'll find Mr. or Ms. Right sooner and build a better life together. As Edith Piaf used to say, "Je ne regrette rien, j'avance." Have a great life, unmarried or married!

JACQUEE from California

What a wonderfully entertaining, hysterically funny bible for single women. Ms. Salmonsohn obviously knows her stuff and has expressed it in such a brilliantly humerous way that every girl single or not can relate. Bravo!!
