Eternal Pleasure

This book opens with a prologue--predators hunting, catching, crunching and devouring. Then having sex. Then, wham, the predator is a soul stuffed inside a human and on his way to meet up with ten other predators. The world is going to end in 2012 at the end of the Mayan Calendar, and these eleven guys (Eleven! That's lots of books.) have to save the world from the inevitable destruction because this is The Last Time and if they don't shape the End of The World, it will be terrible and horrible. So the boss guy, who's in a different category than the shapeshifter guys, sets up the group with personal drivers who are supposed to be able to hide their aura signatures. These drivers are ordinary humans, many female. (Don't know if they all are.) And they go off with their drivers to hunt the bad guys and save the world. These are not your usual shapeshifters, and Bangs does a bang-up job with the revelation of what, exactly they shift into, which is a HOLY crap! moment. Nor do they shift in the usual fashion. But she makes it work. She makes the relationship and the world building work. It just all works. Very well. This is a prime example of "the same, but different," and I'm really having a hard time not giving away the Big Spoiler. Maybe in the next book, I can do it. This is the first book in a series, and I am seriously looking forward to the books yet to come.

In the start to what promises to be an excellent series, Eternal Pleasure introduces 'The Eleven'. Drop dead gorgeous hunks possessed with a healthy dose of attitude, and off the charts smoldering sensuality. These 'otherkin' harbor the souls of immortals been brought back to prevent the foretold destruction of the world as 'humans' know it on 12/21/2012. And, wait until you see what kind of 'souls' these testosterone-laden warriors hold within them. No, so not going to give it away; but, the author has come up with a very original idea that pulls you in and doesn't disappoint. This world is full of vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, demons; the list goes on. But, this is also Ty's story and yes, a love story to boot. The progression of his and Kelly's romance is riveting, downright scary and yes, humorous at times. This book grabbed hold of me from the first chapter and had me breathlessly turning the pages until the satisfying end. Hopefully the intensity will be retained through the upcoming books in the series. So, definitely, run out and buy this book, grab a seat, and enjoy a marvelous roller coaster ride of horror, romance, and yes, laughter.

Wow! I bought this book expecting more of the same light, humor with spicy romance as with all her other books. I must say I was pleasently surprised. This is something different from Nina Bangs and if you are as big a paranormal romance fan as I am you'll love it.
