For the Christian who recognizes that present reality is not always aligned with the will of God, the content of eschatology is the hope that the world can be better than it is now. S nchez argues that this hope is not a dream or fantasy, but a trust in someone, in the person of Jesus Christ through whom the kingdom of God is manifested in our world. Christian eschatology, therefore, maintains a balance between the fulfillment of the promises of God in Christ and by the Spirit in the here and now and the complete realization of the divine plan in the future. Without denying that the life and mission of Christ - defeating sin and triumphing over evil and death - constitutes the hope of the Christian life, S nchez shows how salvation is enjoyed in daily life and at the same time leads us towards a better future . The author deserves recognition for presenting such a controversial subject through a serious encounter between currents such as liberation and kingdom theologies, the Hispanic cultural experience, and the Evangelical Lutheran tradition.
