Will leave you wanting for more...

An absolute page turner, the author Leslie Guttman has a wonderful way with words. Her insight into the lives of the unsung heroes of the horse world is amazing, and will leave you wanting for more! A must read for all horse & animal lovers.

For Horse Lovers

I have been waiting for quite some time to read this book and it did not disappoint. If you love horses, you will love this look into one of the top equine practices. The pace if intense, the vets are fantastic, and the horses.......the point of it all, the horses, are amazing. Thank you, Leslie, for this look inside the world of those we call in the middle of a crisis.

A Must-Read

Equine ER is a truly captivating collection of stories from author Leslie Guttman's year spent at Rood & Riddle (which alone is very impressive!). The book is James Harriett-esque: at times heartbreaking, but completely fascinating and fast-paced. A relative newcomer to the world of horses, Guttman does a great job of relating the drama and goings-on of an equine hospital without bogging the reader down with too much technical jargon. I finished the book and wished the stories would keep coming! A must-read for all horse and animal lovers.

Gripping, fascinating, uplifting

I absolutely loved this book - it's a real insider's look at the famous horse hospital and is definitely a book for anyone who loves TV medical dramas like "House" or "Grey's Anatomy." I had no idea of the level of medical care horses get in Kentucky, and that equine vets were such compelling figures - larger than life. I liked the chapter about the "Repro Cowboys - it actually reminded me a little of Hunter Thompson. The book also describes life in the Bluegrass horse world. For example, the chapter on Claiborne Farm, final home of Secretariat, gets to the heart of what makes people stay in the horse business, even though it's a crazy business.
