A practical handbook for engineers and relief workers providing humanitarian assistance. Basic practical information is provided to implement an effective engineering response in the aftermath of an emergency. The focus of the book is the type of emergency typified by the Rwandan crisis and the ensuing refugee exodus to Tanzania and Zaire, but it is relevant to a broad range of emergencies and disasters.

exceptional

This book is ideal for people working in developing areas. It's a one stop reference guide to pretty much everything.

Great Book!

If I were ever to be stranded in the jungle.....this is the book I want with me. Great, practical information.

An invaluable reference for any aid worker

Anyone working in the Developing World sometimes needs some advice. The solutions offered in this book cover a wide range of subjects and they are practical and very well illustrated. Do not be intimidated by the "engineering" in this book, it's mostly common sense and useful tables. I would strongly recommend this book as a reference for aid and develpment workers everywhere for low tech solutions to problems they will encounter.
