Wonderful Christmas story!

"Engaging Father Christmas was so touching I literally got choked up three different times. The author really knows how to engage a reader's heart. It doesn't hurt that Ian is a dreamy hero. And Miranda is a very loveable heroine. What's not to love about either of them? They are an amazing couple and a joy to read about as you get to know more about them and their desire for love. Ah.... The themes of finding your place in the world, the importance of family, and the far-reaching implications of forgiveness are strong in this story, making it a winner in my book. I really loved this novella and have to say it's by far the most heart-warming Christmas story I've ever read. Bravo!

Wonderful Holiday Story

Engaging Father Christmas is the sequel to Finding Father Christmas by author Robin Jones Gunn. While this is a short novella, it is packed full of good things and well worth the read. It is an entertaining story in which Gunn captures the spirit of Christmas and adds the themes of reconciliation and trust in God to give you a wonderful Christmas read. I'm hoping for a third in this series for next Christmas season!

Enchanting...

Enchanting... In the first book of this series, Finding Father Christmas, Miranda Carson travels to England in search of answers. She always wanted a place to call home and unconditional love. She finds that perfect love in Jesus Christ. In Engaging Father Christmas, Miranda eagerly returns to England. She and Ian are in love, and she suspects she will receive and engagement ring for Christmas. Things look bleak when the family matriarch refuses to bless their union. This is one of the best Christmas series I have ever read. Robin Jones Gunn is a talented author. Last year I reviewed Finding Father Christmas. I loved the story. When I saw Engaging Father Christmas, I could hardly wait to delve inside. The cover of this enchanting book is warm and inviting. The plot is Christian romance. The characters are delightful. Fans will be sorry if they miss Engaging Father Christmas.

Another Great Holiday Read - Both Inspiring and Romantic

Perfect for : Personal reading, Book Club reading, GREAT Gift Book (Note: the book does include discussion questions at the end) In a nutshell: I think this is my ALL-TIME favorite holiday book (especially when combined with the first book!). In book 2, it is one year after Miranda has found her father's family in England. She faces all-new challenges in book two, as she hopes to gain the acceptance of her father's wife, while hoping to cement the future of her relationship with Ian MacGregor. This book is just as wonderful as the first. I highly recommend both books, especially with the upcoming holiday season. These are great reads, and would make great gifts! My Review: I absolutely loved both books in this series (Finding Father Christmas, Engaging Father Christmas)! It was a fast read for me that made me feel warm and peaceful, with a very satisfying ending. I highly recommend both books for personal reading, book club reading (there are include discussion questions) and as books that would be great for gifts! Characters: The original characters from the first book are back, with more emphasis on Ian MacGregor. Mark plays a more central part in this book, and shows how grown-up he is becoming while still retaining his youth. Margaret (Miranda's father's wife) also plays an important role in this story. All of the characters are written well, and help to make the story pull together and flow well. Story-Line: The story-line in both books was easy to follow and very enjoyable. Now that Miranda has a family and friends to call her own (and a long-distance boyfriend), we see how the characters (and her faith) are "engaged" in this book. There are many touching scenes in this story, which help to keep the reader "engaged." Readability: As with the first book, this was an enjoyable, easy read - only taking a few hours to read. I found it hard to put the book down once I started - I loved it SO much! Overall: Another beautifully written book, that will surely be a cherished favorite among holiday stories. It is a nice easy read that could easily be shared with the rest of the family (no questionable scenes or language). readers will fall in love with the characters and ambiance throughout the book. I especially enjoyed the dark green printing in the book instead of the normal black lettering - it helped to complete the holiday feel!

Second in series another charming Christmas pleaser

Engaging Father Christmas by Robin Jones Gunn is the follow-up to Finding Father Christmas. It's a short, engaging novella about finding your home and trusting God to lead you there. Miranda Carson is returning to England for Christmas again this year with the hope that her boyfriend Ian will be asking her a rather important question, one that will give her a home for life. Miranda will be celebrating her first real Christmas as a part of her biological father's family, but his wife is still distant making Miranda question where she really belongs. Gunn captures the spirit of Christmas and weaves it through this enjoyable tale. I don't think I've ever read a more romantic proposal! It's incredible the amount of story that Gunn packs into just a few pages. This is one story I'll be glad to come back to year after year.
