More than 8 mysteries in the book. Ages 8 and up. It's great to see boys depicted as smart and capable.
Reader, look in the back of the book for answers to the mysteries if you can't figure out how Leroy, aka, Encyclopedia Brown, solved each one.
The first mystery is usually Leroy helping his dad, the police investigator, with a crime mystery, then the rest are neighborhood mysteries. These are great logic and observation puzzles.

My 8 year old son 1st 4 in the Encyclopedia Brown books by Donald J. Sobol for Christmas but has yet to have read them. We discovered that they are "new" and the Volume 1-4 is different than the "old" Volume 1-4. He has loved these books. They are titled Boy Detective, Case of the Secret Pitch, Finds the Clues, and Gets His Man. As an extra bonus he was delighted to find out that his father had read these books too.
Stirs children to love reading

From the time I was a child, these books awakened a love for reading in me. They teach kids to be inquisitive, thoughtful, and also to have character. I am now working to become an English teacher and highly recommend this book.
