Good Investment

If you are an EMT you will need good bibliography to learn and understand the diferent skills in your daily job. This book provides you a good source of information in a very easy way to understand. The diferent graphics and pictures are very usefull and help you in your trianing. I have an older edition (5th I think) and when this edition cames out I bought it and I don't regret I highly recomend it.

A Great WORKBOOK for Self-Pacing, Self-Study

As a self-instructional text, this WORKBOOK is excellent. The advantage is self-pacing. Of course any self-instructional book demands more from the user. This WORKBOOK is designed to accompany the third edition textbook entitled __Emergency Care__, but I find that the WORKBOOK alone is valuable in its own right, even used without the textbook, since the WORKBOOK does contain a review of each area of emergency care and highlights the areas that might be missed on first reading of a textbook anyway! If you like programmed text format -- like I do -- you'll enjoy this one. Lots of multiple choice throughout and a Post Test at the end, with answers.Chapters include: The Emergency Medical Technician, Patient Assessment, The Airway & Pulmonary Resuscitation, Cardiopulminary Resuscitation, Breathing Aids & Oxygen, Bleeding & Shock, Soft Tissues & Internal Organs, The Extremities, The Skull-Spine-Chest, Medical Emergencies (Poisoning, Alcohol, Diabetic States, Convulsive Disorders, Respiratory Disorders, Communicable Diseases), Childbirth & Pediatrics, Environmental Emergencies (near-drowing, radiation, burns, heat-realted, cold, fallen through ice), Special Patients, Controlling the Scene, Disentanglement (wreckage), Moving & Transfering, Appndices (on anti-shock garments, esophageal obturator, IV therapy).Highly recommended for (1) those students and others getting into the field or planning a career as an emergency medical technician, (2) people who have been out of the field for a period and want a quick "refresher," (3) people who already have a good knowledge of basic first aid and want to advance it even more, (4) anybody who needs to practice written test-taking in this subject material, and (5) foreign students/non-native English learners (ESL/EFL) who will be studying in any medical field in an English-speaking country.

You think they are all the same....

But they aren't. This was my required reading. I doubled up and purchased two others just in case. I found that I liked this one the best and just wasted my money on the other two. This book is very well organized and since all of the content to review for the NREMT is the same, that's what it is all about.Highly recommended.

Great learning tool

This was the textbook for my EMT-B class, and I found it was very informative + easy to read. My instructor complained that the chapters were a bit out of order, as to understand something completely in, say, chapter five, you'd have to have read chapter ten or fifteen first, for example.

The Best so Far!

As a future EMT-B student I wanted to buy some books prior to my course beginning. I bought Mosby's, Aehlert's, and Brady's books. I finally got to this one (being the last I was to read), and have to say this is the best Ive seen so far. With clear concise text, and abundance of knowledge, real life situations, and amazing pictures (which Aehlert's has almost none of), I must say that this book is not only the most informative, but is also the most user friendly. It has a great index, glossary, and the anatomy pictures are cut outs of REAL humans. I mean it just doesn't get any better than this. I just found out a few days ago this is the book my instructor is going to use, and for a good reason!
