As the back of the book says...'Following the destruction of the Maine(a boat) in Havana Harbor and America's declaration of war on Spain, Max sails on Commodore Dewey's flagship, the Olympia, to meet the Spainish in the Philippines. Doctors Harold and Herbert Travilla volunteer as physicians to U.S. troups supporting the Cubans in their fight for independence. Upon his return from Cuba, Harold confesses his love for Gracie Raymond. When Max returns from the Philippines, he marries Evelyn at Craig Cottage, her lovely childhood home, in a double ceremony with Lucilla and Chester.' Parts of this book were boring, and I skipped over the war parts, but mostly it was good.
