Ellie was an excellent read.

I was looking for something new to read that was good and wholesome. I ended up ordering books 1-8 and received them last week. They couldn’t have come at a better time with the Covid19 quarantine. I’ve read the first 2 books in 3 days and love them. Starting book 3 today. I enjoy reading about the Amish and admire their appreciation of simple things. I highly recommend this book. I ordered books 9 & 10 today so that I have them when I need them.

A loving and enlightening book

This is the story of Ellie Maust, a young girl growing up in the Amish community. Throughout her youth, Ellie saw the many interesting things that the outside world has, but she also saw all of the things that her own community has. And so, Ellie faces her temptations and her questions, and grows in her faith and in her love for her special heritage. I must say, I found this to be a wonderful book. The author, who grew up in the Amish community, does a wonderful job of bringing the Amish existence alive, showing how the Amish live and love and worship. I found this to be a loving and enlightening book, one that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who loves a good story. [By the way, if you would like to read a story set in the Amish community, that expresses a deep love of Christ, then I would highly recommend Sanctuary by Beverly & David Lewis.]

A great way to learn

This book is a book you will not want to put down. Ellie explains what is like to be Amish the good along with the bad. You will learn so many things about the Amish ways. I laughed and cryed along with Ellie. It really truly the way the Amish live come to you. The way Ellie struggles with her questions and finds out her answers. This is a awsome Christain book. It is a awsome way to learn more about the Amish. Enjoy!GGT

Good Christian Read for my 8 year old

My daughter picked up Ellie while on a vacation in Amish country. We are now on our third book in the series and she is "hooked". She loves to imagine what is like to be living in such a different culture, and yet so near where we live. Better yet, this series provides a good story line, good information about the Amish, respectful of their way of life, with a Christian perspective that keeps the stories uplifting and positive, but not prissy. This first book is about Ellie's growing up years (brief as they seem to be) and her experiences with her "Englisher" friend at the local elementary school. It is very well done and interesting, with a vocabulary that my daughter enjoys. We heartily recommend this book.

Truly Wonderful

Ellie is a charming and captivating story of a young girl learning and experiencing the ways of the amish. Slow-paced, the book is perfect for a comfortable day of relaxation. Though you had better schedule a whole day because you won't be able to put this book down. I found myself falling in love with Ellie and her simple family. I have read and re-read all the books in the series, and I must say, the were truly a comfort and a joy.
