A wonderful, vivid portrayal of a fascinating woman and her extraordinary life. Also gives the reader a clear picture as to the nature of the court of the last Tsarina and her role in the downfall of an empire.

As someone who reads many historical and biographical books, I found this book very interesting. I've read a good bit about Nicholas and Alexandra and family but never read much about Elizabeth. I found the details of all the families involved very fascinating. I also gained much more insight into the Romanov family in general. Very interesting reading also about the children and grandchildren of Queen Victoria.
Wonderfully researched and beautifully told
