The Book That Began It for Me

***Electronic Musical Instruments*** came out in 1984 when I was four-years-old, but I didn't come across it until nine years later. Knowing that it may have been outdated within a year of its publication, I was still fascinated by it. As a lover of rock & pop music and the part that electronics played in it (especially in the mid-80's), I felt this book to be the most informative as to "where the noise came from." In the forward, Herbert Deutsch said that Larry Kettelkamp put all the different elements of electronic music into perspective nicely for those interested in delving into the feild. And, he did. Since I first saw the book in the Washingtonville Middle School, I've explored numerous resources for learning about synthesizers and related devices. I now have the book in my posession, and I still refer to it, dispite my access to Internet and other more detailed books (in addition to meeting Mr. Deutsch). If you're interested in electronic sound and where it came from, and you can find a copy of this book, GET IT!
