Good compilation, sometimes a little self absorbed

Generally I like Snow's way of stringing together information mostly gleaned from contemporary newspaper accounts to flesh out and give you all a story has with little tidbits of often forgotten facts in often interesting accounts. That being said, sometimes the author pats himself far to much on the back, and often the stories seems like he added a lot of blah, blah, blah personal data and conjectures to fill in a narrative. I can only take so much of any authors personal insight in factual matters and events that they themselves had no part of.
