Finally found something that works!

I have always wondered why some people can get away with eating anything and not gain weight and why I eat anything and I gain weight. In fact, for my entire life with the exception of the times during which I dieted, I have gained weight! Thought I was doomed, I have yo-yo'd 4 or 5 times and my body has gotten to a point where it would not cooperate with yet another "starve yourself" diet. Along comes Montiganc and his Method, I was very skeptical because his premise is not based on quantity, rather, it is based on selection and mix. I first applied the Method rather loosely and lost a few pounds, then I got lazy and cheated. The result was no more loss, however, I did maintain my weight for an amazing 5 months without gaining anything. This was quite a departure from my normal mode of operation. So, I dug in my heals and decide to follow the Method carefully, result is the weight is coming off, I am not hungry, my energy levels are more consistent (no more afternoon carbo-naps). The book has likely saved my life, thank-you Michel Montiganc.

IT WORKS !

In 1986, Frenchman, Michel Montignac, wrote his first book, How to Lose Weight While Enjoying Business Lunches. In 1987 he followed with a new publication for the general public entitled Eat Yourself Slim (Je mange donc je maigris). Since then, this book has gone on to be a best-seller in twenty-five countries. If it didn't work, it would probably never have even been translated from its original French version.Montignac expounds the virtues of never mixing carbohydrates and lipids in the same meal. His method means that you never have to calorie-count and you never have to go hungry. Hence, it is long-term sustainable because it is fundamentally healthy and leaves you satisfied after every meal. For many years, critics, comprising for the most part traditional nutritionists, tried to undermine Montignac's credibility by claiming that his nutritional practices, though "possibly effective in producing weight loss", were not scientifically proven and perhaps even dangerous. However, numerous scientific studies have now demonstrated not only that the Montignac Method works (producing long-lasting results), but is also an important factor in reducing the risks of cardiovascular disease. In 1999, Professor W. Willett of Harvard University released the results of a 12 year scientific study, which confirmed the absolute validity of Montignac's methods. My wife is a doctor who not only specializes in heart diseases, but has also practiced as an allergist, and is qualified in many other aspects of medicine, including alternative medicines and acupuncture (in other words, her experience is broad and she keeps an open mind). I ran the Montignac method past her, for her opinion, and she wholeheartedly supports his theories. Not only are they logical, I can vouch that they work.Though Michel Montignac first wrote with examples of foods that are commonplace in France, his book has been revised and adapted to include more traditional North American fare. The only small 'negative' to the Montignac method is that you need to adjust to slightly non-traditional meals. In other words, some of the COMBINATIONS of foods that you may be used to seeing on your plate are not permitted. However, this is a VERY small price to pay for a diet method that not only works, but improves your general health and increases your vitality.

Eat Yourself Slim

I must say that this Method is by far the most effective plan overall for me. I am most grateful...Mr. Montignac has found the key (low glycemic carbs) that gave me great fat loss success where on other programs I met with only moderate success. This is a way of eating I can follow for life! It has worked for me in spite of the fact that I have eaten a little more good fat than is recommended and I do make sure I eat some form of protein with every meal (like cottage cheese with the carb based breakfast or dinner just like the Method recommends.) I do not have cravings, and am satisfied throughout the day (rarely getting hungry before 4 hours or so between meals) and have loads of energy, even at 4:00pm. I am a 42 year old mom who loves to cook and is short on time, with a diagnosed underactive thyroid. Diana Schwarzbein's book and her cookbooks are great companions for me for the Method,(her thoughts on fats in the diet have been of great help to me, too) but I always have to use low glycemic carbs in order for the program to work for me, just as Mr. Montignac has said. Thank you, Mr. Montignac for sharing your Method with America!

Reasonably easy and very successful

Well, I tried this diet on a suggestion from a friend. For the last several years, I hovered around 215-225 lbs. At last year's checkup, I was 223 lbs., with a cholesterol count of 230, and triglycerides of 400. After using his method for several months, at my checkup last month, I was down to 196 lbs., cholesterol at 200, and triglycerides at 140. Pretty good, don't you think? I actually look at this not so much as a diet to follow strictly (because I wouldn't anyway... let's face it), but as information about the way my body processes food that I wasn't aware of. Now that I'm aware of it, the way in which I eat has changed, and it's working. I'm still losing around 1 lb. per week. I don't do this at every meal religiously, and I "cheat" sometimes, but I understand the concepts, I use them for the vast majority of the time, and they work. Perhaps the best recommendation I could give is that if it were difficult to do, I wouldn't have been successful. Really.

A great guide to eating healthy and delicious food

I have been losing weight continuously since I started using the Montignac method. The method strongly discourages starving, while it advocates eating wholesome food - and enjoying it! While it does take some time to plan your meals for the day, the method is easy to follow. But it is much more than a weight loss method. The eating pattern advocated in the book is great for lowering the risk of heart disease and type II diabetes. And while it introduces the reader to the whole world of food that is both nutritious and delicious, the book helps one develop a healthier relationship with food. I could go on about the virtues of this book, but I shall stop at saying that I would recommend it to anyone.
