Knock. Knock. Knock Someone's outside the door. . . .But who?Meet Max-- a duck for all seasons. This description may be from another edition of this product.
From the moment I picked up this book I fell in love with it. The cover caught my eye as I walked through my local bookstore. Once I opened it I was in for an amazing surprise. I stood quietly in the store and read the book from cover to cover. The drawings are beautiful and created with such care that, for me, the characters quickly came to life! You will immediately fall in love with this DUCK! Any child would love having this book shared with them. I would think any adult would love it as well. I truly "got into" the book and think you will too. After purchasing this book, I got online and searched the author and to my surprise I found many other books out there with drawings by Jackie Urbanovic! It appears this is the first book that she has both written and illustrated. Kudos to Jackie! I look forward to more DUCK tales from her in the future!

Not only is this one of the best books I have ever seen or read, my 3-1/2 year old grandson LOVES to say DUCK-AT-THE-DOOR (all one word), then he giggles~~every time!!! It has become his favorite book, and he has lots and lots of books. Great job in both story line and drawings!
Another Duck is a Star!

This beautifully illustrated story by Jackie Urbanovic gives me delight, a moment to breathe, in the midst of the rapid, complex data bombarding my senses every minute. I laugh at the expressions on the faces of all the animals in the household that Max, the Duck, visits one winter; I recognize similarities to my own animal and human friends, and, yes, even to myself. Jackie's watercolor images are soft and cuddly, inviting all ages to welcome Max into their hearts and homes. This is a heartfelt story of inclusive love, a look at how the things we chafe against in many of our relationships are the things that excite and nourish us, expanding our hearts and minds. And, it is those things that make us bristle that we often miss when they are gone. My 58 year old self loves this book, but I have also shared Duck at the Door with the adult choir I direct,as well as the youngest of my human friends and family, who all laugh, and love Max, too. I hand carried a copy to school teacher friends and school librarians in my area who immediately fell in love with it. Be sure to add this book to the constellation of stars in your library!

Every kid or adult -- like parents and grand parents -- love animals. This is the tale of a household full of animals that suddenly finds itself, after a knock on the door, with a duck seeking a warm place and haven on a cold night. It is a story of fun, humor and love illustrated with wonderful watercolor drawings that capture the energy of the story. It is really a ducky treat.
