Book Overview

This is Dickey writing at his best - a fast-paced novel of raw emotions, softened as always with his incomparable humour and characters you will always remember. Driver' is an ex-con trying to make his life right but who shares an expensive secret and a past affair with his boss's wife - a woman who is nothing but trouble. Dickey's rich characters jump off the page, making readers feel as if they are present in the hustle-filled pool hall, the bedroom,...

Change is good

This novel signifies a change in EJD. He isn't sticking strictly to a female character or bouncing back and forth from character to character as he tells this tale of love, lies, and lust (as he has done in many of his previous novels that we all know and love). He has instead taken the time to develope a central male character. And not just any male, but a crossword filling, dictionary reading, limo driving, chocolate covered (threw that one in for the ladies, lol) ex-convict who has dealt with everything from being a preacher's kid to growing up in south central to enduring the memory of a failed marriage to accepting a gay sibling. You will definetly fall in love with Driver and the other characters. I am quite certain that you will enjoy EJD's new writing style. A good read even if you've never read an EJD book before.

There are story-tellers and there are writers...

Eric Jerome Dickey is both. He keeps you intrigued by his well-written story. My favorite quote in the book: "Wolf was already gone. The way he spoke, I could see Wolf was the living dead. The alcohol on his breath and the dullness in his eyes told me that somebody had killed him from the inside out, had left him living in a prison of his own, one that nobody could see but him."

Out of the box writer

EJD is one of my favorite writers, so I wasn't surprised that I enjoyed this book. I love his ability to go outside of the box, or book in this case, and write different types of stories. I found this one as enjoyable as TP. EJD weaved an awesome plot and told a new story. I enjoyed the way he uses new technology to bring freshness to a story. His believable and well developed characters and their situations were fresh and new. His descriptions and and the way he slowly unfolds facts to reveal truths are awesome. I have much respect for his writing and applaud his ability to step out and offer different stories while applying new writing techniques every time.

In The Fast Lane

Eric Jerome Dickey continues to write about real, emotional characters. The main character who goes by the name Driver, is a chauffer to the rich and famous, and he can only dream of living the life of those who pass through the doors of his Lincoln Town Car. Since he can never live their lives, he settles for living vicariously through them. As much as he sometimes resents his job, there is one advantage; he is often privy to secrets that could cause scandels if they are made known. Driver is a proud man with a past, a past that makes him respect the secrecy his clients need and makes him walk the straight and narrow. His life has taken on a comfortable existence until his deranged ex-mistress and former partner in crime, calls in some markers. Recently out of prison, pretty women and fast cars are the vehicles that Driver uses to get by, but he is not satisfied with just getting by. He has always wanted to live comfortably, but, being an ex-con and making money honestly don't always go hand in hand. When his back is against the wall, financially and emotionally, he turns back to his old ways, and must come face to face with the consequences of his actions. Along the way Driver becomes involved with some loveable but crooked characters. DRIVE ME CRAZY is a novel that left my head spinning and my heart pounding. Murder, drama, intrigue, and a dash of romance are ingredients that make this story top notch. Eric Jerome Dickey has written ten novels and with each one his writing gets stronger. DRIVE ME CRAZY is a great marriage of street life and the best things that life can offer. The characters are gritty, conniving, and even though some of them are living the high life they are empty people. Reading this story was a joy and I can't wait for Mr. Dickey's next release. The best he's written

Before this, I thought the Other Woman was his best book. After reading this, I had to change my mind. This guy continues to take chances and step up his writing in ways other authors only wish they could. He tells this story through the eyes of Driver, an ex-con who is looking to move on with his life, but it is not that easy. He also has a top-notch supporting cast which helps bring this book to life. Dickey has given us plenty of stories which have brought out a variety of emotions and have been extremely thought-provoking, and this one is no different. Trust when I say you will not be disappointed.
