Delightful dragon story

This book contains four short stories about a young dragon and his adventures at Christmas time. In the first story, The Perfect Christmas Tree, dragon goes in hunt for a perfect Christmas tree, but when he finally finds it, he doesn't have the heart to cut it down, so he decorates it where it stands. In the second story, The Candy Wreath, dragon makes a wreath out of candy, and finds he can't control himself in the presence of so much sweetness, so he eats himself sick. In the third story, Mittens, dragon begins to clip his mittens to his coat sleeves so that he won't lose them, but he still ends up losing them. And in the final story, Merry Christmas, Dragon, dragon discovers for himself the joy of giving. The stories are quite amusing for young and old alike, and not at all scary. It's a great Christmas book, all in all. It contains about 850 words, and can easily be read at one sitting or in small chunks.

dragon's merry christmas

I love dragon books because dragon are my favorite animal. My favorite part in the book is when he puts some up some candy. He is very nervlous so he shakes andhegets the candy down and eats it.

A New Holiday Classic

This warm, funny Christmas book is a joy for all adults and children. It captures the fun and heartwarming aspects of the season as Dragon find the true spirit of Christmas-giving to others. A must read for children of all ages. My favorite of Pilkey's Dragon series.

Forever a family favorite!

This is the first and only Dragon book we've read. My son, who was 3 years old at the time, committed to memory the entire book and loved to "read" it to anyone who'd listen during the holiday season and beyond! We all just cracked up about Dragon's Candy Wreath! This book is a heck of a lot of fun and really captures the holiday spirit of giving, harming none and the temptations of over-indulgence. It's great for all ages -- but best if you can find a 3 year old to read it to...and have them read it back to you!

Delightful easy reader

Lovable, kind, and exuberantly childlike, Dragon celebrates Christmas in four self-contained stories presented as chapters. The delightful stories range in tone from the hilarious, such as when Dragon can't help but eat the chocolate candy wreath he's made as a decoration, to the heartwarming, as when he shares his food and clothes with those in greater need, and later "dream [s] he heard angels singing in the starry night" when those he has befriended sing him carols. Brightly colored, the illustrations are joyful and expressive. It's hard to imagine an easy reader getting much better than this.
