Unique Imagination

I read this book years ago, and I remember loving it. The dragons are not your standard, towards any cliche. They are not instant paragons of wisdom, nor are they vicious virgin-eating lizards. They grow like any good character should. The Grahham Edwards' descriptions are also lovely, especially the colorations of the dragons and the effects of spells. I've never encounted such interesting magical effects in a book; I won't spoil any for you, though. This book is a thousand times better than that popular Eragon rubbish. You won't be dissapointed.

War races

I think this is a great book about the predijuce that two races can have with there diffrences. This is a great book that only has dragons and the magical charm they proccess. And the challenge a young dragon must take to keep the turning true and so save all dragons natural or charmed. This book shows how two slightly diffrent races can unite to save a common grounded purpose

Epic, original, and deliciously so.

I'd like to say two things about this book.* (1) You will be rewarded for the time you spend reading this book.* (2) The beings populating this book have great depth of character, and are all people with whom one can find rapport in some way.* * I picked up this book in one of those enormous book super-stores. At first I was thrilled, I loved the beautiful descriptions and teasing, unusually compelling plot. The story became very emotionally demanding for me, however, because I am the kind of person that likes to read every word on every page, and consider the meaning of each passage.* About half way through, the confusion and despair and separation of the characters I grew attached to became to much... I put down the book. I came back to it two years later, only to find that I had stopped just before things became truly exciting.* I urge you to buy this book, and ride out the set up. The pay off is great. Some elements may seem familiar to you, like the magic system, issues of racism, and relationships. However, there are myriad aspects of this book underlying the familiar, and the plot itself is about as epic as they get, having to do with no less than the very existence of reality.* Different philosophies clash throughout the book, some with lone champions such as Wraith and Shatter, and some tested under vastly different circumstances. Some are resolved, some are not, but the important thing is that no one is truly 'evil'. They have their different perceptions of reality, but every single aspect of their character has solid foundations in their life experiences. This makes the characters come alive. The reader can relate to each and every one of the major characters in this book. If you buy and read this book, you will not regret it. Personally, I can not wait to start reading the second book. This book could be accurately classified with that 'underground' distinction, at least here in the 'States, and while that usually means it is a good book, it also makes it much harder to find.* * Don't worry, even if you can't get all of the books, this one stands alone very well by itself.* ---Ryuuko *P.S.: The mostly dragon cast does much, that is to say, a lot for this book. And this is the man's first novel! ^ _ ^ *P.P.S.: I say that it was a mostly dragon cast. Ya, mostly! I don't know how anyone can forget the basilisk! ^ _ -

Breath-taking

This is the best book I have ever read. I've never read a book about dragons and ONLY dragons before, and I loved it! Fortune, Cumber, Gossamer, Velvet and Brace all touched my heart. There were parts that actually made my heart sad, like Fortune's aching desire to know his father, and his search for his mother. If you are a dragon lover, this book is Definately for you.

A must for fantasy/dragon lovers

Dragoncharm and it's sequels I found was a most interesting read. By this I mean unique, very creative. Something good fantasy writers always aim for. In this novel the characters are almost all dragons, written from a dragons point of view. I credit dragon books, especially the famous Anne Mc Caffrey saga, where dragons have leading roles. The storyline, from the beginning is hard to understand, as it talks of things yet unexplained by the author. It isn't till the middle (or past) you begin to fully understand. Also, although the book seems to drag on it doesn't get boring. The characters, dragons of course are almost constantly amid action. The story follows (basically) the trail of Fortune and Cumber, charmed and natural on their quest to save dragonkind from itself. On the way they gather allies and enemies and it all leads to a showdown in the magic plated mountain - Covemere. The book indeed has a lot too do with magic. All in all the plot may not be completly original but the way it's set out is rare. A good buy for dragon lovers. Note = story is continued in novels Dragonstorm and Dragonflame.
