Entering the Matrix

At times, I had to put this book, "Don't Eat the Elephants", down because it so took me so fully into the matrix of the Alzheimer's world, where I walked with my mother for five years. Anyone who is entering this matrix, or has been there, or wishes to understand how another feels on this journey, should read this book. It is a different thing to lose a life partner, rather than a parent, to Alzheimer's and Pat Miller 's rendition of the trials, the challenges, the spiritual growth she encountered is a story that not only moves us, but informs us of the attention needed and work still to be done concerning this disease that millions of people worldwide face each year. For those who are facing this journey, Miller gives the best advice on how to cope, "by putting one foot in front of the other. . . by taking that one step. . . that one moment at a time."
