No More Drama Please

Good book to help us understand the reasons drama queens and kings need to be front and center. It helps shine the light of compassion on those of us who like to reve up the emotional engine and go in the fast lane. One thing I would like to add is that often drama queens were children who had the "hissy fits" so they would divert attention away from the upsets that parents were having with each other or with their own aging parents. When the drama is noisy and intense it makes everyone forget what else they were upset about. This book is a good beginning to learn about the patterns that often sabotage deepening of relationships. I recommend it. Sylvia Lafair PhD author, "Don't Bring It to Work: Breaking the Family Patterns that Limit Success"

How "Drama Queen" Helped This Man!

I initially intended to read this book as the "significant other" to a drama queen. And I found many useful tips and tools on how to make my relationship better with my spouse. What really surprised me, however, was that I saw myself reflected in the pages as well. What an eye-opener! Not only does she convey sensitivity and compassion, but Dr. Debra does a wonderful job of getting rid of useless stereotypes about drama queens and she provides hands-on tools and solutions to the problem. I only wish I could have been enlightened by the information in this book twenty years ago. I might have avoided a lot of unnecessary stress and "drama" and had more successful intimate relationships. But oh well! At least I have the information now! Thanks Dr. Debra for your sincere help! Five stars

Thank you Dr. Mandel!!!

Wow, where has this book been all my life. Dr. Mandel really provides excellent information about being a Drama Queen. As a wife, mother, & friend I gained useful knowledge that made me a better wife, role model, & helpful ways to not drain my friends & keep them in my life!! I grew up with low self esteem stemming from a bad childhood which carried into my adulthood. I took every situation to the highest level & loss such energy. Dr. Mandel helped me to distinguish between being a vampire drama queen & a lovable drama queen. This fantastic book helped me to be a more productive worker & to not be overly dramatic with small issues that occur at the workplace everyday. I can't believe I much time wasted throughout my day being a Drama Queen. I have already noticed the change in my marriage & with my children...my home is happy & calm, something I have never had. Thank you Dr. Mandel, you saved my sanity!!!!

Get Over It

Mandel, Dr. Debra. "Don't Call Me a Drama Queen!: A Guide for the Overly Sensitive and their Significant Others Who Need to Learn How to Lighten Up and Go With the Flow", Alyson, 2008. Get Over It Amos Lassen All of us know drama queens and they are everywhere. Many times they do not realize that they are drama queens but let me say that race, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic standing have nothing to do with being a drama queen. Drama queens have the unique ability to sense danger when there is none to sense and they take to heart things that do not concern them. They attempt to control that which is beyond control and they seem to have a sense of fear about everything. They are the kinds of people that no one wants around but somehow they are always there. Debra Mandel has several ideas on how to avoid being a drama queen. If you follow what she says, you can unload unhappiness from your life and anger, resentment, stress and disappointment will slowly evaporate from your life. Her ideas will also help you understand those drama queens that you know. Prevention is the way to get around the drama of life. Get a copy and live drama free.
