Deliciously neurotic.

Having read the other reviews for this book, I beg to differ. I mean, come on! Ok, so maybe Arabella HAS taken it a little too far in her portrayal of a ridiculously body-conscious thirty-something who more than slightly resembles Bridget Jones. HOWEVER, I think that is the whole point of this book- to take what is such a common thing today- womens' weight insecurities, and write about it to such an extreme that us paranoid women can take a step back and think 'God, do I really sound as ridiculous as her?'. I personally found Jackie's over-the-top amusing really hilarious. I did relate to it, despite being a bit more sure of myself than she is. It is meant to be a funny, light read. And that it is.

Insight to the life of a "larger" woman

Like many other people, I happened to come upon this book by accident. I noticed that Arabella Weir wrote for the Alexi Sayle show, so I figured I would take a shot. I'm glad I did! It was a very quick and funny read. And as ashamed as I am to admit...this could have been my diary! There were a few entries that could have come directly from my own journal --- especially the funny bits about apologizing to the diary for not having written in a week! Any "larger" women might also enjoy this book.

I spit out my peanuts!

Warning DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EAT WHILE READING THIS! I laughed so hard that I spit out my peanuts! I was hooked from the first page! I could totally identify with so much of Jackie's life. It was like reading my own diary and I thought, "wow I am not the only one who has these crazy thoughts!"

For women everywhere...

I believe this book speaks for all womankind at some time in their lives. It is an hilarious insight into the female mind and helps you to realise that things aren't so bad afterall ! I thoroughly enjoyed every word and couldn't put it down.

Thanks Ian for buying me this wonder book

I was in London when I first saw this book. Ian has this book bought for his only sister and me. This book is about a very insecure (and quite attractive, I suppose) woman and her life, both private and work. I think most women are like this: too concerned of how people think of them, think too much (especially why do and why don't people say such and such), always think of how nice their ex-boyfriends are, how bad their parents treated them when they were young etc. By doing so, in fact, they lose themselves. Most of us do not treasure much about what do we have in the present and do not trust others. Read this book and you can find yourself in there. Actually, it's amazing to see there's (or there are) people think and act like me at the other side of the world. Now I feel very delighted, knowing that I am not the only one. This book is actually a very touching book if you read right through the end. I would like to recommend this book to you, not only female readers but also male, because you can understand women better! Thank you, Ian again and again for buying me this book; I wish I can see you again.
