Do You Take This Woman?

I disagree with the star rating most other readers gave this book. Maybe it's too REAL for most. The truth is, this is a story that many of us could find ourselves involved in...if we didn't play by the "unofficial rules" of not dating or being attacted to someone that had/is dating/seeing a friend or family member or that beat you to the punch when the two first met. I challenge all readers of the novel and future readers to think about that one situation where you wished you'd met the person first or wish knowing what you do, you could date the person, once the other relationship failed, after an amount of time had passed. Let's open our minds to honesty. If you only want to be entertained and not thought provoked, then don't read this book, but I bet if you do read it, with an open mind of honesty...you will be rocked!! I will not give away any of the book. ENJOY...

First let me start by saying RM Johnson in my eyes is a very talented author. It takes skills to weave a story together and I think he did a great job at telling this one, as well as all the others he has written. I recommend this book it was a quick good read.

Carla, Carla, Carla what a selfish woman you are........But then every body has a story to tell and Carla's story does explain why she makes some of the terrible choices that she made. Pete and Wayne grew up like brothers and because of the pact that they never let any woman get in between their friendship they were still best of buds while we are reading this book. This was an exciting true to life story that some authors would not touch because the delivery to the reader has to be SERIOUS. Well I will not give away any particulars but I do say this is a must read for this year.

Skip the over-priced tickets for Great America and pick up - Do You Take This Woman? by RM Johnson. If you've gotten this far into the review section, then I'm pretty sure you already know what the book is about. RM has creatively woven a tight story about love & lies with a wicked twist! He pushes his characters to the limit with no mercy, pulling you into their lives so deep that by the end you're gasping for air and begging for more. When I first picked up the book I was thinking, yeah- I know how this is gonna go- but oh was I wrong! I'm not going to give away the ending, but I must say I went into momentary shock once it was all over. Oh and the final scene with Pete and Wayne..aww man... that got me. This is the first book by RM that I've had the pleasure of reading and definitely not the last.

This was a great read! As fiction is supposed to, the story took a bit of reality and stretched it to the 'what if' limits. What if a guy and his friend had to deal with this issue that has long plagued many women in some shape or form - be it baby sitter, best friend, coworker, etc. When a man's best friend gets with the woman he once loved, how is he to deal with it? When a man does it to a woman, angry or hurt women have been called petty, and told to get over it, but in this story we see Pete and Wayne find that the issue isn't as small as it may seem. Do you really ever get over a person to the point where you can be in their presence and experience their friendship and pleasure without any traces of residual passion? Can you maintain a true friendship when you've shared intimacy with the person who is currently loving your best friend? Which takes precedent, your mate or your friend? I admire RM Johnson's courage to step outside of the cookie-cutter reporting-styled storytelling, into a more thoughtful, yet still easy flowing, enjoyable read. The male perspective on this age-old issue was refreshing and interesting. This book shows readers why RM Johnson is arguably one of our greatest contemporary fiction writers.
