Among the 15 tales in Do Not Exceed the Stated Dose are two featuring Peter Lovesey's forthright police detective, Peter Diamond, and two with the amateur sleuth, Bertie, Prince of Wales. The collection also includes The Pushover, winner of the Mystery Writers of America's Golden Mysteries short story prize.
Having read all of Lovesey's Peter Diamond Mysteries & the Cribb novels, I was fiending for more--that's when I found this collection in a used book shop. If you're a fan, you'll love these little glimpses into all of Lovesey's detective worlds. And the other reviewer is also correct: The delightfully dark twinkle in all of these stories is fantastic, something that maybe the shorter format of a story helps keep fresh.
Perfect bite-size entertainment

I don't read short stories that frequently, but this collection was a real pleasure. Each story is tightly written, with well-drawn characters and a crafty plot. Best of all is the evil cackle in the author's voice which comes through loud and clear in each and every story.
