Do Not Disturb: Hotel Sex Stories

I'm amazingly impressed. I've read tons of erotic anthologies like this one, and this is the only one to be downright erotic and sometimes just a great read. All of the stories focus on sex in hotels, but unlike other novels, Rachel chose to use some amazing stories in this anthology. For example, we actually get to read a story about a girl with OCD and her husband where they try to escape to hotel rooms to avoid the germs so they can actively have sex. Or we read a story about a woman who, after being nagged by her boyfriend, agrees to have a threesome with another women, but once the two women start, they completely ignore the guy after he starts acting like an idiot, and instead, we get to focus on the two girls' pleasures. Overall, an amazingly collection that has tugged my emotions all the way from "aww" to aroused. I'm amazingly, amazingly impressed.

I was intrigued by this book just because of the subject matter. Inside I found many stories, all with intense erotic themes. Overall, I was highly satisfied by this read and was glad to see favorites like Alison Tyler being featured. It's a fun, quick read about a tantalizing subject. Do Not Disturb=Do Not Pass Up! I admit that first-class erotica editor Rachel Kramer Bussel had me sold at the subtitle ("Hotel Sex Stories") ... but it's not merely the theme that makes this an outstanding anthology. As is typical of what we see from Bussel and other Cleis Press editors, this volume presents intelligent, horny, intimate tales in an astounding variety of tones. Each story here is a little masterpiece with its own flavor, each exquisitely crafted by a fine writer. Amanda Earl's "Welcome to the Aphrodisiac Hotel" thrives quietly on the all-knowing point of view of a sophisticated voyeur; Alison Tyler's "Tightly Tucked" explodes with liberating rebellion; Saskia Walker's "Lunch Break" drips with urgent discovery; Kristina Wright's "Other Woman" builds sensitively from the chill of frigidity to the warm epiphany of fulfillment; Shanna Germain's "Talking Dirty" leads us along a psychosexual tightrope of hope; Bussel's "Hump Day" is a raunchy role-playing tour de force; Tenille Brown's "An Honest Woman" unfolds like a more sex-positive sibling of the best pieces you read in your college lit anthologies; and Donna George Storey's boundary-challenging "Room Service" masterfully invites, teases, arouses--and delivers. You'll find Elizabeth Coldwell, Maxim Jakubowski, Stan Kent, Gwen Masters, Teresa Noelle Roberts, and Thomas Roche among the contributors here, too! Every author in this book deserves your attention, and knows what to do with it once you've granted it.

I just finished reading "Do Not Disturb", and I cannot recommend it highly enough! Every story in the book is interesting and well-written; although each of the stories is written by a different author (with their own individual writing styles), they all fit together perfectly here. Do yourself a favor, and order a copy of "Do Not Disturb". You won't be disappointed.

Well, if you're reading "Do Not Disturb: Hotel Sex Stories", edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel, you might not want to be interrupted, but you won't be falling asleep, especially if you're not alone. These twenty stories will have you itching to pack your bags. Bring a friend, or meet one. Or a stranger for that matter. All the stories are first class, though like hotel stays, they're all different. Here's some that I especially enjoyed. Maxim Jakubowski's "G Is for Gypsy" is delightfully melancholy. A man who travels a lot has been given a room with memories. "So, here I sit in room 411 of the Palace Hotel. I am naked. I am pitiful." Oh, but he's not watching the Discovery Channel. In Kristina Wright's "The Other Woman", a guy's ménage a trois fantasy birthday request has an wonderfully unexpected outcome. "Oh, hon, don't thank me. You are delicious." Tess Danesi's "The Royalton - A Daray Tale" has us following right along with the directions. "5) At 5:00, put on the blindfold, put a set of handcuffs around both wrists, and secure your left arm to the back rail of the chair. Wait." Nobody is disappointed. "Reunion" is Lisabet Sarai's masterful tale of long-time lovers meeting up for some quality time together after a few years separation. "I'll get you whipped into shape in no time." There's so many more rooms to explore - you can get "Tightly Tucked" (Alison Tyler), enjoy some "Room Service" (Donna George Storey), spend "Hump Day" (Rachel Kramer Bussel) or "The Lunch Break" (Saskia Walker). "It's So Simple a Place" (Isabelle Gray) for "Talking Dirty" (Shanna Germain). Oh, and so much more. Okay, okay. I'm done - you can come in now.
