This was my first manga series. Not anime, but manga. To this day since, 2002, I have owned most of this series. This is one of my favorites. This series is still really good and enjoyable. It comes off as a harem, but is no where near ecchi level. It is well written, toys in some yaoi, which is somewhat off putting and creates a new dynamic, but it evolves over time. This series is great, if you enjoy a good romance, with comedy and magic, this series can suck you in.
A wonderful manga and anime.

I have to admit that I overlooked DNAngel for the longest time. I'm glad I finally got around to reading it though. It's a great story with sometimes predictable, but usually captivating outcomes. The characters really make this show worth watching though. You can't help but think Daisuke's "romantic" ways are rather cute, We all have to say that With/Wiz is really fuzzy and cute (I want one o_o), and many of us girls can't help but love the way Dark's so mysterious, suave, and flirty ^_^ All the characters have something or another likable about them. Even if you have to dig waaaay deep to find it. It gets you wondering about what really is considered "good" and when it's okay to bend the rules a couple times. (and just how far you'd go to get a date with Dark =P) Overall, DNAngel is a great story with romance, humor, and wonderfully beautiful bishonen that you begin to wish truly existed in real life... *is thrown out of the room for the bishonen comment*
Cute!

Sometimes when you're in love, you feel like a different person . . . literally. Daisuke Niwa is a middle schooler who just turned fourteen. He confesses his love to his crush, Risa, only to be rejected. He soon turns into his alter-ego, the thief Dark, for the first time. Dark has a crush on Risa's twin sister Riku, and changes back into Daisuke when he sees her. I think it's relevant that Daisuke and Dark have the same DNA, and their crushes are twins, which means they also have the same DNA. But whatever. I like the characters in "DNAngel". Daisuke is sweet, and Dark is arrogant. I like the twins too. The characters have pretty balanced personalities too. The story is ok in volume 1, but it gets much better. My rating is based on the entire series, but I think I would give volume 1 a three. The romance later on is sweet and not overly dramatic. There are also new enemies, more magic, and more explanation about the relationship between Daisuke and Dark. The art in this series is gorgeous. Everything is very detailed, and a lot of emotion is put into it. "DNAngel" is a great series that gets better with every volume. I definitely recommend giving it a try.

So! DN Angel is about Daisuke, an eigth grader (just turned fourteen) who can't seem to have his love requited. Feeling rejected, Daisuke returns home only to realize: 'I love her!'. Shortly after, he transforms into Phantom Thief Dark. Turns out that Dark is in his family genes- and he has to have his love returned to make Dark go away. But in the meantime, whenever Daisuke see's his crush- Risa- he transforms into Dark. The only way to turn Dark back into Daisuke is to have Dark's DNA react to love as well... to Risa's twin sister, Riku! In my opinion, this book was great! The first volume is mostly the foundation to the story, but some important things happen. What with interfering, violent, genius, and desireable classmates, perhaps more than art will be stolen. I highly suggest reading it!
Wonderful Series!

I picked up the first two manga about 2 months ago and fell in love immediately. It's a wonderfully written and illustrated series that's funny and serious and absolutely fantastic. Of course, it helps that Dark, Daisuke's other personality, is hot. Any lover of series such as Furuba (Fruits Basket), Escaflowne, Magic Knights Rayearth, CCS, etc., would love this series.
Finally! DNAngel is here!

DNAngel is one of the most highly anticipated series on Tokyopop's large manga line-up, and for very good reason. This is the manga that started the hit anime series; and to be blunt (and just because double negatives amuse me), the anime series ain't got nothin' on the manga. The story revolves around Daisuke Niwa, your everyday 'normal' kid. That is, he's 'normal' until his fourteenth birthday, in which he then proceeds to turn into the legendary thief Dark, complete with a very cool persona and a nice pair of black wings to boot, everytime he looks at his crush, Risa Harada. Of course, the last thing poor little Daisuke wants to do is live the life of a thief, and the only way to stop this family 'curse' is to make Risa fall in love with him. But that's easier said than done. To top it all off, there's another twist: Daisuke's alter-ego Dark has a crush on Riku Harada...Risa's twin! And when Dark sees HIS crush, he quickly changes right back to Daisuke. O what a tangled web we weave. If the cover doesn't give it away, a look into the pages of the manga will...the art is absolutely wonderful. High-quality. Top-notch. The manga-ka has obviously paid painfully detailed attention to every single panel, and the result definitely pays off. The script is also very good, something that I've come to expect from Tokyopop now.Check out this manga. It's beautiful, it's funny, it has a great plot (which foreshadows more to come), and it's just plain addictive.
