Delightful briefing on the diplomatic life in Washington DC

A must read for anyone who does business on Embassay Row and abroad. Ms. Scott provides a refreshing perspective on the lives of the unsung heroes of international commerce...the ambassadors and their wives. I read my copy on the Concorde heading to Europe and found it to provide a very accurate picture of behind the scenes diplomacy in a high-tech world. Once I started reading, I became fascinated with her observations and her journalistic panache. I recommend this book wholeheartedly as a fine reference source. I certainly hope Ms. Scott writes a sequel, it too will find a home in my business library.

A fresh and commemdable read, simply wonderful!

Ms. Scott's candid book on the lives of Washington's top ambassadors affirms to the reader that these very public and yet, often times elusive individuals are in fact just that...individuals. The reader is given the sense that he too is sitting in on the colorful and insightful conversations that Ms. Scott has with these ambassadors and on occassion, their spouses. It is indeed a rare oportunity to gain insight into the lives of some truly remarkable people, who's stories both inspire and entertain. To meet an Ambassador can be a memorabe experience, however, Ms. Scott allows you to move past the receiving line, and into their homes. And for those of us who may never get that opportunity, it is indeed a pleasure worth experiencing!

A behind the scenes look at embassy row.

Very through in its scope and meticulous in detailing the people, polices, and power brokers on the international stage. The author's prose lends itself to a quick, yet comprehensive treatise of the lives of the major and minor international players in Washington DC. Further, it serves as an excellent reference book for names, addresses etc. of embassy row. A delightful book, told by a superb storyteller.

An Amazing Book. Highly Recommend!!!

This book takes you inside the otherwise closed doors of Washington's embassies. It is a fast read...very entertaining and hard to put down once you start. You actually feel that you're a diplomat being shown and introduced to members of the international diplomatic corp. Would recommend without qualifications...I hope there is a sequel.
