A great prehistoric parade

Dinosaurs come in all sizes--big and small. This is a fun book that takes a child's fascination with dinosaurs and turns it into a learning tool for big, small, long, short, and much much more. For instance the double page spread on the T.Rex says "Theropods once ruled the day, and T. rex was the king, they say." The page shows the large T.Rex and smaller dinosaurs. It gives pronunciations and comparison examples of larger (although there are none for the T.Rex), smaller and smallest dinosaurs. Each dinosaur has information about its length, where it was discovered and its nickname. Kids who like dinosaurs will love the pictures and the rhymes and the easy to disseminate the information!

wonderful picture book

This is a wonderful book for 5 to 8 yr olds who love dinosaurs. The text is fun and engaging and Rick Spears' illustrations are charming and imaginative. Highly recommended!

Five stars, but I'm biased...

We created DINOSAUR PARADE, Rick and I, because librarians kept asking me (during school presentation days) when I was going to write a dinosaur book for LITTLE dino fans -- and could I emphasize SCALE when I did. What better way to help a hungry little mind understand how big BIG is than putting them in the picture? Thanks to Rick's expertise as a natural history exhibit designer, we were able to accurately depict a 3'5" group of little people on parade with their dinosaur favorites. And the rhyming text explains the difference between science and make believe just to keep things straight (because people did NOT live with dinosaurs -- not ever). We hope you really enjoy the book as kids, parents, teachers and librarians. We sure loved bringing it to life. Thanks. Kelly Milner Halls
