Still Worth the Money

I don't often write a review on a book that I purchased over 3 years ago, but on the Digitech guitar forum there are still guitarists who have recently bought the GNX4 and ask about getting the Power User's Guide. Anderton's book is still highly recommended by the group. Even though I have had my GNX4 for almost 4 years, and I know the owner's manual almost inside-out, I still refer to Anderton's book almost as much as the manual. The Power User's Guide has better diagrams for the routing options, there are tutorials that helped me learn my new unit, and there are just many other tips in the book that make this an excellent companion for the GNX4. I thought Anderton's tutorial and software on programming drums made this book worth every penny by itself. When I got my GNX4, it was my first multi-effect, multi-function guitar processor and I was in over my head. Anderton's book walked me though my learning curve whereas the owner's manual could not. If you have years of experience working with similiar processors, and you consider yourself an advanced user, maybe you don't need this book. But if you find yourself asking if you should get this book, chances are you probably could greatly benefit from it. I still refer to this book as much as I do the manual, and after almost 4 years, I guess that is a testament to the utility of Anderton's book.

If you have a Digitech GNX4, you need this book!

For those of us that are crunched for time and can't always spend hours discovering new features of products, this book is a Godsend for those of us who own the GNX4. It really helps explain in plainer terms how to use this incredible, feature-laden tool. The included CD-ROM is especially useful as it has both tutorials and files you need for different features like programming drum beats. Simply put, if you own the GNX4, you should buy this book. Period.

Absolutely Outstanding!

The GNX4 has a pretty good manual, as far as factory manuals go. However Craig has a writing style that has made this monster a LOT easier to understand and implement. The writing keeps you interested. It's not dry like most factory manuals are. Everyone needs to buy two additional things when they get a Digitech GNX4: 1. The MXF Supermodels. 2. This book. It'll be the best $130 you ever spent if you really want to learn and utilize the GNX4 to it's fullest extent.

A Very usefull Guide :-)

This book expands on the instruction book that comes with the GNX4. The instruction book is a bit hard to get my head around at times. This book does a great job of clarifying a lot about the use of the GNX4, a complex piece of technology. Maybe not for hardcore users that fully understands it's operation, but good for someone like me who is still learning. The only thing it doesn't have (which I was hoping for) was a method of keeping volume consistant while increasing gain with the expression pedal. Oh well, you can't have everything, yet this manual may help me understand possibilities.

Great resource for us newbies

I am a "hobbyist" guitarist who doesn't have a lot of time to devote to deciphering the intricacies of the user manual and posting forum questions, so this book was just what I needed. I'm in it for the fun only and needed something easy to understand and apply without doing a lot of research. For those in a similar position, this book is a great start. The title, "The Power User's Guide" may be a bit misleading and a better title might be "Getting Started With..." In any case, I am happy with the book and it didn't cost a lot of money. Thank's Craig, it was just what I needed!
