Devil's Prize

Move over Rosemary Rogers, to me this was a Steve and Ginny story and very well done indeed. One of my all time favorite couples were the tortured Steve and Ginny. They loved each other deeply but managed to have difficulties with trust, but were so passionate when they were together. Damiena and Alexa were exactly the same. They really truly loved each other. Yes, of course it was lust at first. Often lust comes first and then the couple gets to know one another and lust becomes love. Damien went after Alexa for all the wrong reasons. But what was so remarkable is he forgave her right away when he realized he was just totally wrong about her. And he set out to make the best of things, which was difficult do to, with his history. He really had no business taking a wife, but he did and he really did love Alexa deeply. It showed over and over again becuz he was willing to forgive some of her actions, understanding so much about how it is difficult to trust. And it is so important to understand how young Alexa was. How is such a young person able to really understand spying for ones country and how impossible a life like that can be. She just went on instinct and honor and at first she had it all wrong about Damien. But when he finally was honest with her it was still a challenge to believe. But over and over again this couple would put themselves into peril for each other and it was just so romantic and real. I cannot say enough about this book. I love to find books like this that you can truly get into such an emotional rollercoaster ride of a story with lots of passion. And this was 5 stars and more!! I guess if you want your characters totally black and white with no shades of grey then perhaps Damien and Alexa are not your couple but to me they were what romance novels are all about!!

I have read several of kat Martin's books and this was one of my favorites. Although I agree that Alexa was a bit annoying at times I thought that in reality that is probably how one would act if they didn't trust the man they loved. If you like Kat Martin you should read this book. I read it in one day because I couldn't put it down once I started it.

This is a beautiful story that will lift your heart and fill you with a sense of wishing that you were there with them. Do try this book, it is well worth your time.

I've read 7 of Martin's books...and this one is my absolute favorite! Damien is absolutely gorgeous (I'm sure from Martin's exquisite details) and Alexa is just wonderful! I have yet to read Gypsy Lord (my mom told me to save the best for last) but I'm looking very forward to it!

This is the first Kat Martin book I have read. Wow! I really enjoyed it. It like her style, I like all the action and intrigue, it kept my stomach churning. And I really enjoyed her treatment of the love story. The main characters are wonderful and the way Kat writes about love just grabs the heart. I like her style. Felt like I was right there. I wanted to get to the end, but once it ended I didn't want to be done reading about them!!!!
