This story is set following the events of one. Overall, the plot is interesting if not strange and a little confusing at times and some somewhat contradicts the premise of five and the end of one itself. It is good a little silly at times, but fun nonetheless.

This book was great! It really gives you a good idea on Dante's past. Even though it is contradictive to Devil May Cry 3, this is better I think. ;) Definitely recommend it. Finished it in a day!!!

Story: Tony Redgrave is just trying to enjoy his life as the best mercenary in town with his partner and friend Grue when these pesky demons keep showing up and trying to kill him. Soon a mysterious swordsman by the name of Gilver comes into town and begins working with Tony on jobs that become increasingly violent and dangerous. Not long after Tony's friends begin disappearing one by one. Until finally there is only Tony and Gilver. It soon becomes clear that Gilver is behind all of the recent trouble and the disappearances of Tony's friends. Now Tony must find his true self and face his destiny as Dante the son of Sparda. ----- If your interested in the Devil May Cry series, anime or scifi/action novels then you'll proably like this book. It does read like an anime cartoon so it does help to be familar with at least one of the above or the pacing may seem a little off and some of the events may seem a little off. But hey where else are you going to find a knock down drag out fight/iniation test finished by a drinking match featuring the worst beer in the city? Scenes like that make this book fun and interesting. Would recommend to anyone who likes DMC,anime, or scifi/action novels. -m.a.c

Thought you'd need a PSP for the ultimate wireless Devil May Cry experience? Not necessarily, Shin-Ya Goikeda delivers a in-depth tale of a hit-man with a rockstar attitude and a knack for being in the wrong place at the right time. Whether you've played the games or not this book is great for anyone who enjoys a great action/sci-fi novel. This story is about the revalation of one man and his transition into who he really is. Fun but not for the faint of heart, you will laugh and cry.
