I'm a student of Economics and currently working on my graduation thesis, which will be about the Southern Cone and Mercosur in particular. I found this book very good with reference to the analysis of U.S. political and economical interests in South America and vice versa, but covering also partly the point of view of the European Union, that has economic interest on Mercosur too. Neither does the author argue in a populistic way, as it happens often when it comes to publications about trade liberalization nor did he fill any pages without crucial aspects. That led to a relatively limited number of pages with high content. Recommendable for everyone, who is interested in relations of trade and politics between South America and the U.S. and also Europe.
