As the title states, this is a book of designs and styles. The author assumes that you are already familiar with the basics. Thorough instructions are provided in the author's other book, appropriately entitled, "Curtain Making Course." (The one downside of ordering books on-line - you can't flip through the book before you buy!)I found this book very useful. For me, the line drawings are preferable to photographs. The lack of pattern makes it easier to either scan or photocopy the curtain style and fill in with colors/designs from my fabrics. The line drawings also made it easier to understand the construction of each curtain since nothing was hidden by fabric patterns. The author's placement suggestions were very helpful (i.e, certain designs should only be used with tall, wide windows). It's advice that designers provide - at a cost of $100 an hour or more. All in all, this is a terrific resource book.
