This volume explains the fundamentals of gardening and offers advice on how to grow trees, shrubs, grasses, annuals, perennials, fruits, and vegetables. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I've had this book for many years and reference it several times a year, whenever I'm deciding on something new to plant. It could use a good editing though for consistency (Denny doesn't give the same type of planting guidance for every plant) and many of the pictures look amateur, but he covers lots and lots of plants that work for the midwest. He does a much better job of presenting information in his newer "The Gardening Book of Ohio," which I also have and like, but the latter doesn't include as many plants. I'd like to see a second edition of "Complete Guide to Midwest Gardening" with improved pictures and more consistent information, but overall this book is a must have for any midwest gardener!
