Third in demon/Yama series

Emma Holly really can write! She's writing in a crowded genre, that of fantasy/paranormal/erotica, but her writing is way ahead of most of the other authors that I've read. She is particularly good at creating believable and engaging characters who grow and change in a way that the reader finds convincing. Her fantasy worlds have congruence and, although different than our world, show that people have the same problems and flaws and emotions. The world of 'Demon's Fire' is her Yamish world, previously featured in the books 'The Demon's Daughter' and 'Prince of Ice' as well as in the short story 'Queen Of All She Surveys' in the anthology 'Beyond The Dark'. 'Demon's Fire' focuses on two characters who appeared in 'The Demon's Daughter', Charles the adopted son of Roxanne and Adrian Philips, and Beth, Adrian's younger sister, although ten years have passed since the end of the first story. The third major character in this story is Prince Pahndir who appeared in 'Prince of Ice' and was rescued by Xishi and Corum from his years of sexual slavery in the school for concubines. Pahndir was a very interesting character in that story, apparently rather weak and emasculated following the suicide of his wife, but with hints that there was more to him than a shell of a man. In this story Pahndir comes out of that shell and begins to live again. He's had several years of freedom and is running an effective high-class brothel business in the desert city of Bhamjran. When he bumps into Beth and Charles, who are working with Lord Herrington at an archaeological dig, he finds himself drawn to both of them. Both Beth and Charles also find Pahndir intriguing, but for different reasons. Beth is more able to cope with her interest, Charles is afraid of some of the feelings that he has, especially as he also has feelings for Beth. When Pahndir decides to try to seduce both of them he unwittingly draws them into an attempt on his life and he may have to end up relying on them to rescue him from a return to slavery. But is it possible for the three of them to recover from past wounds and make a future together? Although this story works well on its own I think readers would benefit from reading the previous two novels in the series to understand the underlying Yamish world. It was also good to learn more about some characters, such as Lord Herrington, and to reconnect with characters from previous books. Emma Holly's skill in this book is creating a happy ending for the three central characters, even if in a rather unusual manner, and showing the way that they grow throughout the book. The eroticism in her writing is to the fore in this book, much more so than 'The Demon's Daughter', and it might be too much for some readers, but her skill in storytelling makes this a very worthwhile read. Loved It!!!!!

This is one of the best menage books that I have ever read. I loved how each character grew and developed through out the book. I haven't read Prince of Ice, but was still able to enjoy Demon's Fire. This book is one hot, steamy, erotic, read. I won't go into plot detail here, but would definitely say, READ IT!!! If you love m/f/m menage that have a good plot and awesome sex scenes then this is the book you need to read.

Although they've long been attracted to each other, neither Beth nor Charles have ever admitted it, much less acted on it. But everything changes for them in Bhamjran, where humans freely mix with the Yamish demons, and the sexual mores of society are decidedly less strict than Beth's hometown. Once the irresistible Prince Pahndir sets eyes on Beth and Charles, he feels a stirring in his loins he never imagined he would again since the tragic death of his mate years earlier. Even his years in sexual slavery never excited him as much as this pair of young humans do. Dare he hope that one of them just might be a second mate for him? But Pahndir's enemies are determined to destroy him, and the outcast prince may not live long enough to find love with Beth and Charles. Once again, Emma Holly immerses her fans in a decadent world of pleasure and intrigue bound to induce fever-like temperatures in readers! With the third book in her TALES OF THE DEMON WORLD series, we experience the thrill of pure love without boundaries. DEMON'S FIRE is a story of love that transcends both race and gender, as well as societal expectations. Pahndir is a somewhat tragic hero, one who has long ago resigned himself to a lonely life without his own family, and few people who he can trust. Betrayed by his family, he has no one and nothing except for his business, a brothel in the city of Bhamjran. Watching as his encounters with Charles and Beth breed an unexpected hope deep inside him is absolutely heartening. Charles is drawn to the wicked sensual satisfaction that Pahndir and his brothel offers, but he fears what he believes is unacceptable sexuality, and worries over what he perceives as his own depravity. The love of the two people who mean the most to him proves powerful enough to alleviate his most deep-set concerns, allowing him to open up and accept a family of his own for the first time in his life. Although sexually innocent, Beth is the catalyst that brings this trio together in the end. It is her boldness, her desire for both men that finally quell the doubts both men have regarding their strange relationship. Of course, the strange changes she has been undergoing since her experience in Queen Tou's chambers, recently discovered in an archaeological dig, just might have given her a little push. DEMON'S FIRE is rampant with the wild sexuality that fans of Emma Holly's work crave. The love scenes will make anyone hot under the collar, and I daresay those lucky enough to have a significant other handy when they read this book will give their love one a night to remember after reading some of them! Underneath it all, however, there is a wonderful story of unconventional love that will warm the heart as surely as the love scenes warm other parts... Another Great Read!!!

I've been waiting for this book since the end of 'Prince of Ice'. I wanted to know what happened to Prince Pahndir after he was rescued. And Ms. Holly exceeded my imagination with this tale. I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting. I highly recommend The Demon World Series* for individuals who appreciate eXtreme romance. *includes 'The Demon's Daughter', 'Prince of Ice', with short stories in 'Hot Spell' and 'Demon's Delight'.

heated erotic romantic fantasy

After being exiled to the Purple Crane by the Yamish for his inability to lead as much as for being a peeping royal, former second tier Prince Pahndir Shan broke the curse of seven years when he finally masturbated. To celebrate his liberation and to use his knowledge gained as a former prisoner training sex prop, he opens up the Prince's Flame brothel in the human desert city of Bhamjran. He peddles fantasies, but feels alone as no one fulfills his desires. Archeologist Lord Charles has come to Bhamjran on a dig. His cousin Beth who is seeking adventure joins him. When they meet Pahndir, sparks fly. The trio forms a ménage a trois of sorts that enables each to explore their wants and desires. However, their bonding is weakened by their past relationships that always ended badly for each of them, their guilt for breaking taboos, and those who want the trio broken apart for their own avaricious reasons. The latest Tales of the Demon World (see PRINCE OF ICE) will have readers on fire from Emma Holly's excellent romance as "sex rode the air"; or at least the pages. The lead trio forges a fascinating and complex relationship that enables the audience to see deep inside their souls to learn what motivates them, especially ghosts from each of their pasts. Demon's FIRE is a heated erotic romantic fantasy that sub-genre fans will savor. Harriet Klausner
