Great memoir with a few exceptions

I didn’t know anything about Rita Coolidge until I read this enjoyable memoir. I even bought her music on iTunes after I read this book! Such a beautiful voice. The primary problem that downgraded this book for me was that she kept saying she was the inspiration for certain well known songs written by other artists. If anything, the performer who wrote the song should credit her for being the inspiration, not Rita Coolidge herself. It came across to me as very immature, desperate and insecure. She shouldn’t try to take credit like that for another’s work, because it is their creation not her’s. Whenever she would mention songs that she said were written about HER, I would cringe. Like the woman who tells everyone she was the Mona Lisa in the famous painting Mona Lisa.....Sit Down!
