Delightful indeed!

Reviewer: Teresa Medeiros (see more about me) from Kentucky I took this book on vacation with me and got some very strange looks from the other passengers on the cruise ship when I kept bursting into hysterical laughter. It truly was delightful! The very concept of turning a group of cutthroat pirates bent on reforming themselves loose in a Scottish castle was priceless. For those who didn't find the book historical enough, I say "Lighten up!" The beauty of the romance genre is that there is room for a vast variety of stories and styles. I'll take the spark of magic I find in Jillian Hunter's writing over dry, emotionless research any day. And just because an author doesn't choose to indunate the reader with historical facts, it doesn't mean the facts she does include are in error. I only wish Errol Flynn and Olivia deHaviland were still around to star in the movie version of this one! The banter very much reminded me of something you'd find in one of their swashbuckling films and the scene in the church near the end brought a definite lump to my throat. Be true to your muse, Ms. Hunter, and continue to charm and delight us with your unique talent and voice!

Simply wonderful!!!!

This book was hilarious, tender, and heart wrending all at the same time. I laughed so hard tears came to my eyes. It was simply wonderful the way Douglas attempted to keep his past from Rowena. The group of pirates added countless laughs to the story. There were scenes like: Gemma, Douglas's sister decorating a rose arbor with petticoates. Or the time Gemma aquired a falcon for Douglas, only the bird was stuffed, she proceeded to "fly" the bird around the bailey. There were many more wonderfully funny scenes. For all its laughter, this book is not devoid of intrigue and sensitivity. This truly a delightful novel that all should appreciate.

A delightfully humerous love story

In 1662 Scottish Highlands, the Dragon of Darien and his loyal crew of pirates decide it is time to retire since the Stuarts are back on the throne. Adding to the captain's incentive is that he has inherited a run down Castle, Dunmoral. No longer the Dragon, Douglas Moncrief seeks respectability as expected of a Laird.Princess Rowena of Hartzburg, a small principality that is in trouble from rebels, needs a warrior scoundrel. She comes to obtain the services of the notorious Dragon. Instead she gets the aristocratic Douglas. As he acts more like a gentleman, she becomes more shrewish over his behavior. However, neither one can stop the love that grows between them. The only thing holding them back is how Rowena reacts to Douglas' true colors.DELIGHT is a humorously warm historical romance that shows the daring talent of an adept writer to breathe a fresh perspective into an era that has been done to the bone. The story line is fast-paced, filled with action, and loaded with jocular ripostes. The warmth of the characters is a Jillian Hunter trademark which turns her novels into fairy tales that arouse the interest of the sub-genre audience.Harriet Klausner
